So - is it safe to use this?
Seems safe so far!
I've been using my TaM -> Worgen swap for the past week now and no problems whatsoever.
I think Blizzard just ended up saying why not to the idea of those not exploiting. However, I bet that editing walls and shit to be like fireplaces so you can jump 'em will get you banned still...
Stay cosmetic. :P
I can't seem to loadup world of warcraft... I saw people writng that they do not need any MEfix no more, Though i just get an error trying to load my wow with the model edit in the Data folder... any suggestions?
Yes, one suggestion: There always have been some edits that work without fix. And there always have been patches merged into Blizzard's files.
Thing is: Just use the stupid mefix. If its merged or doesn't require a fix, it will do nothing. If you need it, it will work. What's so bad about that different launcher?
You must've gotten it all wrong.
I can put that .MPQ file into the data folder and then i try and launch the game without the MEfix. It will not launch, instead it gives me an error.
Then i'll try without the .MPQ file and i load the MEfix. Game starts.
Then i'll put the .MPQ file into the Data folder and press the MEfix.
The black window with "Press F8" stuffs comes up but Wow never does.
Mabye you understood my problem alil better this time? =)
Why does you don't want to use this stupid MEF ?
I'm sure its because they figure people will use the faction change service when it goes live & character re-customization services so everyone will see their new character in-game instead of just the person doing the edit themselves seeing it.
The behavior I actually observed when not using the launcher is that after loading with WoWMEF I could then continue to play without it, while using my model edits. This leads me to just believe that the DLL modification stuck, as when I removed the DLL and let the launcher recreate it, it would no longer load without out.
This leads me to believe they are being less aggressive, but none the less still "blocking" it.
I'm geeky enough to play on Linux...
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
