[SWAP] Windrider -> Proto (does not require MEfix)

WARNING: This edit will work without the use of outside programs. Click pictures to see larger versions.

Haven't done much mount farming on my pally alt and I HATE wyverns. Plus, you never see this mount around because its impossible to finish the meta yet. I also find that windriders are far less common then any type of dragon/drake making this swap a little better in that regard. Anyways...

I'm revisiting this topic because I finally got around to figuring out the ugly skinned proto-dragon in Dalaran. If you used this edit before then you know what I'm talking about. Here's his new look:

Since I was already messing around with the files, I figured I'd update and offer some variety.
BONUS: This swap changes the sound effect when summoned to that of a proto dragon.

This will work with any armored wind rider with brown skin. AND all edits have the included Dalaran windrider fix.

I recommend renaming the file to patch-W.MPQ
That's what I have it as and it works perfectly.

Thanks for checking this thread out and if you like my edits, let me know. /wink

Make sure it is inside your data directory:

    <Drive>:\...\World of Warcraft\Data\

Make sure the MPQ is all capitalized and make sure WoW is not running. Once you are sure it's in the folder, you can start up WoW and it should work.

Also, make sure you are using an armored windrider.

Hmm, I don't know why this isn't working for you.

I just downloaded the file that I have linked and placed it into my data folder. I am not using modelfix or any other type, so I loaded up WoW regularly. I checked on both my 80s and its working fine.

Perhaps its got something to do with me being enUS?

Here's a screenshot with the explorer window over-top WoW so you can see there's no WoWME loader and where the file is located/named.

Yeah, like I said in the original post, it just has the brown skin changed. That model happens to use the blue skin. I'll probably update later and put in a proper proto skin for that.

Try naming the patch file to something with a letter instead of a number, perhaps that will make a difference. I try to avoid using numbers when I make my own edits and instead use any of the 26 amazing letters of the alphabet.

Just place it in data and rename it to patch-4.MPQ and run WoW normally.. Not with WOWME or anything
