NOTE: I would like someone to test these out. I am seeing them in model viewer, but not in-game. Would anyone mind downloading these and reporting back to me if they work or not so I can take the steps to fix any sort of problem?
Check back for updates, as there are 4 more colours coming.
WHY
These are recolours of the 4 Lvl40 horse mounts. As a Draenei who hates the way to Elekk look, I grinded rep with the three available Ally factions and by lvl 46 had Horses, Cats, and Rams. Horses were the first, at lvl 42, because I had seen the Palomino at Goldshire and, being my favourite horse, I wanted it. I didn't find out until I was done grinding rep that the Palomino had been removed when armoured epics were added. I bought the Brown Horse, and went on to buy the three others. Excluding the Menethil-only Black Stallion, all the horses looked the same. Brown Horse, splotchy brown horse, reddish brown horse.
I spent lots of time with horses over the summer for the past two years, and was dissapointed that the only available colours were the dull, common ones. So, the first model edit that I started working on was to recolour the Lvl 40 horses. I started when I first read a few guides here, but school got the best of me and I left the project incomplete. Over the past 3 days I have been able to get these edits working, and do a few touch-ups. Now I have started making them available to the public.

Saddle
Along with the horses themselves, I also recoloured the equipment. The pad is a silvery purple and platinum, to match the skin and hair of my Draenei. The saddle and reins are black, to better match the new pad colours.
I take requests for saddle recolours. You may list which colours you want each part of this texture to be (pad, pad stripe, reins, seat, seat outline, metal) and I will upload a BLP file which you can put into the existing patch file.
Bay -done
The bay is dark brown, with a black mane and tail, and black running up it's legs, fading in at the top. This colour is a bit more common, but beautiful nonetheless.
Chocolate -done
The chocolate is a speckled medium brown. The mane and tail are many different shades of blonde, some have been a "dirty blonde" with brown fading to a medium mustard blonde, and some have been a light, beach-bunny blonde.
Palomino -done
An uncommon but astounding shade. The body is a light sunny golden tone, and the mane and tail are a creamy off-white. This is a swap, everything but the saddle, pad, and reins is Blizzard's texture.
Dun
This colour is reminiscent of a seal-point Siamese cat. A tannish white on the body, with a dark brown mane and tail, and dark brown on the face and legs, fading into the white.
Blue Roan
One of two "Roan" tones. Roans are a solid colour, but their abdomen is slightly paler, and speckled. The Blue Roan is a blue-grey colour
Red Roan
The second of the two Roans. This horse is very Chestnut in appearance, having a rusty red-orange colour.
Buckskin
Almost a reverse Palomino with a bit of Bay. Buckskins have a golden fur, a bit darker than that of most Palominos, with black legs, tail, and mane like a Bay.
DOWNLOAD
This download includes the MPQ patch with the basic setup that I have. Pinto is Palomino, Black Stallion is Bay, Brown Horse is Chocolate, and Chestnut Mare is still untouched. Also included in this file is the the BLPs for all 3 recolours, so you may organize them as you wish.
