2v2 Teams
Warlock/Healer:
This is one of the most commonly seen team in the top 10 of any battle group at the moment. Warlock brings strong durability and utility to any team give them a healer and you suddenly have quite a force to reckon with.
The biggest counter to this team, is a Rogue + Priest, since a Rogue limits the Warlock due to stuns etc, and the Priest tears apart dots with dispels.
If you are a double DPS team I suggest silencing the healer and all out nuking the Warlock as fast as possible.
Warrior + Paladin/Druid
This is one of the most dominating duo's in season two, and you'll probably be able to recall the ridiculous amounts of complaints and crys for nerf's existed on the forums.
The weaknesses this team has is against double DPS teams such as Warlock/Mage, who have a lot of CC and offensive power, as well as durability from Ice Block and being a Warlock. A double DPS class which does not rely on melée should be able to dispatch these in no time.
Personally as a Mage me and my Rogue arena partner have trouble fending against Warriors with full pvp gear. My job is to normally sheep the Warrior and all out nuke the healer. This mean's Water Elemental early and Shatter combo's.
A note to all Mages. If faced with a Warrior and Paladin team make sure to Spellsteal Blessing of Freedom!
Shadow Priest/Rogue
This team is a combination of ridiculous offensive power, superior control and high durability against certain teams. Intensely focused offensive pressure is your best friend when playing this duo. Burn down quickly, while timing blinds, Silences and fears to compile the longest duration of healing control possible. The Priest brings offensive dispel, and the ability to heal if necessary while the Rogue brings in control. Fortunately this duo is at the very least an evenly matched to slight counter to the popular teams listed above.
Against Warrior/Paladin, the Warrior is very weak to focused burst when in zerker stance, as well as when deathwished, so an initial burst can be difficult for their healer to deal with. The key to this fight is getting the Paladin to bubble and trinket as early as possible so he is actually susceptible to blind's and silences.
Mage/Warlock can be difficult as they can shut down the Shadow Priest with counterspell and spell lock, leaving you out in the open to be torn apart pretty quickly. if they want they can also chain sheep/fear you while killing your Rogue.
Holy Priest/Rogue
This team is strong. It's very strong in terms of facing double dps teams, and efficient against Warlock/Healer teams as well since you have basically much more outlasting power than Spriest/Rogue, with 10x the efficiency in countering the Warlock damage. Bring in huge offensive utility with dispels and mana burns, and it's quite a good force.
The biggest counters to this team is Warrior + Druid/Paladin as a Warrior can just rip a Rogue to shreds, and it's usually difficult to outlast the above healers in terms of long lasting.
Paladin/Rogue
This team is great in terms of providing permanent mobility and other blessings for the Rogue, as well as a lot stronger lasting power. You also aren't as weak to blinds/silences as much as the Priest counterpart.
However I'd /quit once you encounter a Warrior/Paladin set up!
Mage/Warlock
This team is about offensive power and great caster control. Counterspell + Spell lock, curse of tongues and fears is a nightmare to any healer. Combine this with the ability to sheep and you will find yourself completely locked down while you're partner is left defenseless. You also have decent durability from Soul link and Ice block. Frost nova also brings great control against melee opponents.
Warlock/Healer are a strong counter, as once you've wasted your initial cooldowns and DR, you're basically screwed if you haven't downed either opponent.
Mage/Rogue
My current set up. Against a double DPS team Mages hide and go invisible if necessary as it's vital the Rogue open's. Make sure you're near the Rogue when opening and then whip out a Water Elemental. You'll need to Burst down incredibly quickly or the initial stun is lost.
Warlock/Healer are a strong counter or Warrior/Healer.
