[Guide] Recalling an Account

This is all pretty basic knowledge, but I thought i'd share with the people here anyway as I never knew this was so easy prior to the first time I did it.

What is Recalling an account -
This is basically when you either sell or trade an account and after a while you wish to recall the account back so you regain ownership of the account (or you are totally legit and someone hacked your account). But remember, the party from which you are recalling from can also do this to regain control but there are some ways to prevent this from happening.

What you need -
Account Username
Registered Name on the Account
The above two things are must haves to recall an account.

What to get if possible -
Secret Answer to the Secret Question (Go to WoW.com Account/Password Retrieval to find out the secret question)
Original Full Address of the account
Original Email of the account
CD Keys attached to the account
Timecards used on the account
Name/Level/Realm of characters on the account.

How to do it -
1. Firstly make sure you as much as the above information as possbile. Remember Account username and registered name on the account are must haves.
2. Call blizzard in office hours on 1 (800) 592 5499 for US residents or 1-800-041-378 if you live in Australia. They are open from 8am to 8pm Pacific Time, that is 2am to 2pm Eastern Australia Time.
3. When a representative answers the phone, they will either ask how they can help or for you to tell them the phone number you are calling from. Tell them your real number you are calling from.
4. Tell the representative a story about how you cant login to your account and you've already tried the Account Password Retrieval Page to no avail. I usually just say that I quit WoW a while back and wanted to come back to give it another go. They hear this, and are more than happy to help you get addicted again.
5. The representative will ask you for the account name and your name. If this account isn't yours, then say your name is the registered account name.
6. They will then ask you to answer the secret question. If you know the answer to this, then great, tell them the answer and then they will ask you for a NEW email and telephone number to register to the account. They will then reset your password and send an email to the one you nominated with the new password and youre done.

If you do not know the secret answer to the question, or you answered wrongly, there is still hope.
7. The representative will then proceed to say that there are other methods of regaining control of your account. They will NEED the answer to ONE of the following questions
Original WoW CD Key used to register the account?
Original BC CD Key used to register the account?
Codes on any Game Time Cards used on the account?
Original Billing Address on the account?
Original Email Address on the account?
If you know the answer to any one of the above questions then the representative will finally ask you for the name/level/realm of characters on the account. This is easily done through The World of Warcraft Armory
8. The representative will then ask if you shared accounts or have AV software installed...just say whatever you want to say, because you have already succeeded in recalling the account.
9. They will ask for a new email/phone number to register to the account and send the new password to the email you nominate.


Final Words -
This is really easy and blizzard employees are more than happy to help you retrieve your account. I have done over 5 different account recalls for both myself and friends. I also have a friend who has sold his account to various sites and then recalled 4 times to get some cash and he is still playing on the account right now. The beauty of this is that the sites you usually sell to are chinese gold farmers, they have no idea that they can recall accounts or simply do not have enough of a grasp on the english language to call them and recall the account. Also, a few of the accounts i recalled had ALOT of gold farmed on them, usually 5000+ gold, so if youre taking a break from WoW, you could use this to have someone farm on your account AND get some real cash.
But, I do not encourage to use the sell/recall cycle as accounts may get banned if they go through IPs listed in Asia countries

nice post but a quick question, lets say i had an account with 3 level 70s on it but deled them all when i quit...

what would be a good way to get at least 1 of those chars back?
(my friend actually did this 5 months ago when he quit wow for marines lol)

WOW, nice. I traded a account a year ago, played from 60-70 on it and got the epic flyer. Then he took back the account.
Now, I have name, account name, SQ and it's answer, and ALSO the TBC key. Time for some revenge

Well, when you recall the account, I suppose you could tell them that they deleted your 70 then tell them the 70's name and what not.

When you say SQ, do you mean the answer to it? If you have the answer to it, then thats all you need to recall it.
