You can obliterate any crafted item thats worn by a character not consumables

How much ash should I be getting per obliterate? Getting 2-3 per item. So that is anywhere from 33-50 blues needing to purchase. Obliterum goes for 6k right now on my server. Lowest blue I can find is average of 100g

So at lowest, it will cost 3300g and highest at 5000g

Even at these low profits, it is still an easy profit.

obliterum has dropped to 4k on my server from 18k in 2 days
Probably very little profit to be made if you were to try this now

i am guessing obliterium will bounce in price right before the raids open. as of today it is pretty easy yo acquire lvl 840+ gear, and we still have 2 more mythic dungeon saves before raid opens. so people don't bother buying obliterium now because they hope they won't need it. but those with bad luck, the ones that didn't start strong and didn't catch up in time will probably need to boost 1-2 items.
personally i will keep track of obliterium and if i see it reach absurd prices i will stockpike some just in case i am right

Still tons of profit to be had on my realm, just need a lot more information than the OP provided.

Depending on the item, some will ash into 2-3, 3-5, 8~, 20~ or 25~. Figure out which ash into what and determine the max you should be paying for everything.
