As a disclaimer, I wrote this guide, but I did use excell to create the tables. So, I did not do them all by hand and as such there might be small discrepencies in the data I did not catch. I did them all using the equations below, so they should be right (hell probably more right than if I had done them by hand).
Ok, first we'll throw out the equations. I'll explain them more in detail later in this post:
m = x mana every 5 seconds
p = % of time in FSR
s = spirit
k = regen while casting = .00, .15, .30
To get spirit:
S(m,p) = 1.6*m/(1-p+k*p)
To get mana every 5
M(s,p) = ((s/4*(1-p)+(k*(s/4)*(p)))/0.4)
To get %FSR
P(s,m) = ((m/5*2)-(s/4)*k)/((s/4)*(1-k))
Ok, now that I scared off everyone, your probably wondering what these numbers mean. I assume everyone knows what FSR is, but if you don't, it's basically the Five Second Rule and while in it you don't regen mana from spirit or base mana regen, you do from mp5 (mana per five).
Ok, so we take those numbers and we make this table:

Basically, this is saying to get 1 mana per 5, we need to have these values. Now, this does assume you do not have meditation. If you do have meditation you will need to apply 15% to the spirit and add it to mana per tick. You will need to change this to 30% post-patch.
So, assuming 15% you could modify for these values to figure how much spirit is required for 1mp5:
