Realm surfing: Farm rares and escape sticky situations!

Have you ever been waiting for a rare to spawn again and noticed people just randomly appearing or vanishing before your eyes ?

Well they are using an addon called Cross Realm Assist. It offers a nice little window with a few buttons to click, its real simple and basicly allows you to shuffle through realms without hassle. There's a much more detailed explanation on how it works on the Curse website down bellow.

How to use this:

1. Click the button next to your minimap.
2. Click Quick Join/Leave realm to shuffle through them realms!
3. Be awesome.


How can you use this to your advantange ?

- You can farm rare mobs by running through the realm list, if the mob was killed on one realm, switch to another one until you find it alive. Rince and repeat. This can be very usefull for farming Moonfang during the Darkmoon Fair. This guy has a good chance of droping a pet that sells for 5000g on the auction house!
- You can get out of sketchy PVE situations. Say you accidentally aggro'ed that HUGE boss and are about to get shit on by it, you just switch realms and the danger's gone in a flick of the fingers.
- You can get out of hazardous PVP situations. Say you walk in a big crowd of hordes as an Alliance player and are about to get fked, you swtich realm and bam, thats it they're all gone. Of course if you're in a place where horde players usually chill, expect to encounter another bunch of hordes on the realm you switched to.

Obviously you havent even tested this because realm don't change if you are in combat.

I've always thought so, but now I have doubts about this. I have recently been leveling my alt using the quest in Gorgrond which requires clearing 5 regular and 3 bigger mobs that give huge xp. Very often (when people were randomly joining and leaving same group as mine) before I managed to finish last regular mob to get to the big xp mobs, I was - while still in combat - phased to another server, the mobs I was fighting vanished and I had to start clearing them from the start.
