Why Understanding Your Server Is Super Important BEFORE You Find A Method of Goldmaking. (The video gives a fuller explanation)
Text Version:
Here's a concept about goldmaking for you to swallow that I thought was super important.
I get the feeling that alot of you are into the habit of thinking in black in white. As in either something works for making gold, or it doesn't. After YEARS of experience and making more than my fare share of couple hundred thousands of gold myself (Across 4 different servers) - I've realized that there is no one size fits all method for goldmaking. Especially not one that will work on every server there is.
Your Server Is Like A Pie With Several Slices
Pie you say? Yup. Exactly. When I write guides across the forums on videos, I get alot of complainers who say "no this doesn't work here.. " or "BS Steve! That never works I tried.. Bla Bla Bla.." And it seems to me that they're all under the assumption of what works in one server will without a doubt work on another.
This is not the case..
I see servers as pies with several slices. Each server is it's own pie.. with it's own flavour, with it's own slices. You have to work by that servers pie in order to make consistent gold. With that understanding.. if the gold tactic your trying DOES NOT fit into the agenda of your server then theres little chances of you ever making any profit.
To illustrate.. let me show you an accurate example of what the economy looks like on MoonGuard (U.S) pie chart.
See the big slice of the Transmog Market. Since the transmog market is so popular here.. selling transmog is always going to be a win-win. Hence if you use a transmog centered strategy, you'll make some big profits. ((Notice how the slice is so huge)).
Now lets look at the stormrage market..
Notice how large the Trade goods and 665+ BOE sections are.. and how the Transmog slices are literally non existant?
Henceforth trying to run a transmog strategy here will often result in frustration and little reward.
IMO this is why some players say a strategy is awesome.. while others just go back and forth on why it's just "average". To avoid this I suggest people get a feel of their server first and get familiar with thier markets before taking any gold advice seriously - Even my own.
This is something that needs to be understood before going on with any goldmaking.
If you understand this, then your half way there. =)
