Now after patch day, prices for gems usually explode because of stats changes/id reset + new gear/conquest gear for honor/yadda yadda - BUT if your toon has jewelcrafting as his profession you can pick up Serpents Eye, which were previously limited to 2 per toon, and can gem the whole set with them. No longer restricted by the profession perk.

I don't understand? Serpents eyes are the gems you get from prospecting ore arent they?

Serpent's Eye is the gem you get by combining 10 Sparkling Shards from prospecting ore.

If you are a jewel crafter with at least 550 skill you can now use unlimited amounts of these in your gear instead of only 2, because profession bonuses were removed and these now only give the same stats as normal gems. Jewel crafters usually have a ton of these sitting around so its a cheaper way to regem if needed.
