Reclaim mounts obtained illegally which were removed

Hi all,

Wanted to share something which may help some people but will be useless to most.

A previous exploit allowed people to obtain a large collection of rare mounts by moving characters across battle.net accounts. I'm not going into the exploit here as it was fixed and blizz managed to remove these mounts from the accounts they suspected were involved in this exploit.

Well I was one of those people who obtained a lot of rare mounts via this way and Blizz did remove them and a lot more which has left me crying ever since. It was my bad, I accept it and I didnt get a permaban so i can count myself lucky.

Well, I may have found a way to obtain a large number of these mounts back and let me tell you how.

Recently there was a patch or similar which somehow removed peoples mounts and there was a lot of grief about it. At the time this happened, I wrote a ticket advising that some of mine had also mysteriously disappeared. I was told that a hotfix is incoming and when deployed, will make them appear again. Of course, my mounts didnt disappear due to the patch, there were removed by Blizz at a much earlier point.

Now a week ago, i ticketed Blizz again advising that my mounts had not re-appeared and listed the ones I had achievements for. So mimis head, invincible, blizzard bear, etc etc. The only achievement removed with the mounts in above exploit was the Scarab Lord/black battle tank achievement so unfortunately, I didnt risk asking for this one. The rest I listed and kindly requested they let me have my mounts back due to the grind fest.

The next day I have an in game mail with my listed mounts. Super happy!

I have tested with a couple of friends also caught out and it appears you should only be ticketing from the main account the 'super mount toon' was transferred to. Further accounts down the line did not receive the same outcome.

Would you be able to say that a TCG mount had mysteriously disappeared with the patch and have a gm give it to you?

The only reason I say this is because there is no achievement accompanied with a TCG mount. Unless a GM can track the code redemptions and realize that you hadn't entered anything shouldn't it work?

Its possible I guess, although I didn't venture past what I could prove and that was taking achievements as proof. That was the logic I used to sell it to the GM and the GM did return with a comment around returning mounts I had achievements for. You may have to start with a different evidence model for them to buy into it.

You would just merge the accounts to the same battle.net and thus all accounts on that battle.net would receive the corresponding titles/mounts.

It wasn't really an exploit, there was a bug where transferred characters would move all the mounts with them, as well as them being added to the battle.net. You would have to petition for a name change on the account to get them all on your main.

So very quickly people were able to move a handful of characters and create super accounts with every mount in the game. This was possible for a small window of a couple weeks right after the account wide patch landed.
