5.4 mount mats.

This is all from ptr and may change but im pretty confident it will not.
Soo 5.4 will bring us a new engineering mount, which is: Sky Golem - Item - World of Warcraft
And as you can see the mount requires 2 types of mats, first mats are 30 bop new engineering tokens (they might make this tradeable when the servers go live)
and 30 living steel, on my realm a living steel is selling now for 400 gold but i can bet prices will got to about 1000 each or even more once 5.4 hits live.
The main thing is to stockpile living steel.
Second thing is about engineering, as far as i understood from ptr the mount will be tradeable and will sell for alot of gold.
On my realm there are some guys that are selling professions pack. (all mats 1-600) and engineering goes to about 10k/pack (overpopulated realm)
First thing about this is that you could sell packs.
second thing is that if you have many alts you could buy packs or even farm yourself and make engineering for bop mats = make mounts quickly and sell them.
As my realm market goes i can see the mount being sold in the first weeks from 100k to 200k the first days.
Oh and the mount doesn't requires engineering soo it's most likely a blizz method to sink money and make the market to flow

So... thank you for contributing something... however I believe you are wrong to think living steel value is going to double...

Will it go up a little? Possibly, maybe 100g, but it possibly might not either. The thing is yes, if the new item: Chief Engineer Jard's Journal - Item - World of Warcraft was tradeable then you would be right. However, these items are on a 1 day CD each and are BOP and have no indication of changing, and most likely won't.... and considering you need 30 of them this means that when patch 5.4 hits the soonest one of these items will be crafted is 1 month after 5.4 patch day. This also means there will not be a run on the living steel market.

Will you maybe see a slight uptick a month in or the normal uptick after a big patch? Ya probably, but nowhere near the way you are talking.

On that note though, you definitely are right in saying that there is something to be had for having more than 1 Eng due to these mounts... but it is yet to be clear how popular or cool these mounts will actually be thus realize demand and so on. I should also note there are 2 new craftable pets as well that require 15 1 day CD Eng items each as well, so 2 weeks after 5.4 we may start seeing them... +5 for effort

Don't forget, for some realms 5.4 brings a "Virtual merge" this will bring changes to the economy drastically. So my advice would be to stock up on everything at your current realm price lowest as possible if you can, not just living steel. The reason being is that the merge may bring other realms that have a higher average price on materials and on impulse will provoke players into buying all of your stuff or as much as they can afford simply because it's lower than what they are used to. It could also have the adverse affect, it could merge realms where prices are much lower. So you're stuck in a catch 22 situation, entirely dependent on whether or not your realm is going to be merged!

Apparently the BoP engineering thing comes from first learning the recipe from Chief Engineer Jard's Journal - Item - World of Warcraft then crafting them. which require 10 ghost iron bars each. So you could stockpile 300 ghost iron bars, 30 living steel, and get the book the first day, and in 30 days, like Sklug said, you could make one.

This teaches you how to make a Jard's Peculiar Energy Source, which can be used for quite a few interesting items, including a Sky Golem and Pierre, creating Jard's Peculiar Energy Source will cost 10x Ghost Iron Bar, this items creation is limited to once a day like its brethren, Lightning Steel Ingot.

Just like Notes on Lightning Steel (for Blacksmiths), this item is rewarded from a quest, Chief Engineer Jard's Journal, this quest is started by picking up a Peculiar Energy Source dropped from Itoka, the same NPC that starts the Lightning Steel Ingot questline.

Thanks for compiling the list of mats, I actually sold all my Skyclaw mats after they said it wasn't coming out in 5.2, bit of a shame now that I see how cool it looks with the new model.
