Get LFR-loot for your preferred role

Hope this belongs in the guide section...if not please move to exploit...

We all know that the lootsystem for LFR was changed with the release of MoP. We are no longer rolling on a fixed quantity of items. The system preforms the roll for every raidmember and maybe you get an item or not.

The loot that you receive is being selected for your role. For example Restoshaman get mail gear with Int + Spirit.

BUT...what most people don't know, the system does not take the role that you are officially performing in the LFR. You receive the loot for the spec that you are using in that kill.

    What to do:

    1. Queue as Tank/DD or Heal/DD or Heal/Tank
    2. Get invited to LFR
    3. Check which role you are being assigned
    4. If this role is what you want to receive loot for, everything is fine
    5. If you are invited as...let's say DD but you need loot for your Heal-Spec, then just change to your healing spec and do the encounter in this spec. You will still be officially assigned the role of a DD.
    6. If you receive loot it will be for your heal spec.

LFR is quite easy. But I would not advice queueing as tank and then switching to DD, as some of the encounters require 2 Tanks...even in LFR. But you won't notice if there are 3 tanks or just 5 healers running around.

Unfortunately I cannot provide a pic as I forgot to take one. But in my last LFR I was invited as DD. As one of our tanks struggled mightily I decided to spec Tank just to have a backup if he dies once again. In this run I received the tank trinket with mastery and dodge-proc.

    Have fun guys.

Raid Finder uses a system called Personal Loot. When a boss is killed, every player has a fixed percentage chance of receiving a loot item. For each player, the game will decide based on a fixed percentage chance whether the player will receive loot. If so, the game will then select a class-appropriate item from the boss's loot table and immediately deposit the item into the player's inventory. Not spec specific.

Did LFR last night my role for the first part was Druid Resto, i received boomkin loot
2nd part of LFR my role was Boomkin, i received Resto loot. LFR apperently does NOT check spec only class..

so quick999 seems to be right

    Did that change?

Here is an excerpt from GCs own Blog

    Personal Loot
Here is how looting works in today’s Raid Finder groups:

    •The boss dies.
•The game randomly decides which items off of the boss’s loot table drop.
•The group rolls Need, Greed, or Pass on each item.
•If you were raiding with a group of friends, you might discuss who should get each item. Even if you ultimately lost, hopefully you are happy that a friend got an upgrade and that your group as a whole is now a little bit stronger.
•But if you’re in Raid Finder, you are quite possibly alone with a bunch of strangers.
•So, if you can Need, you probably do, because there’s no time for discussion, some of the rollers may be AFK, and even if you piss someone off, you aren’t likely to have to pay the social cost of doing so since you’ll never see them again.
    •The highest roll wins.
    •Drama ensues.

Here’s how the new Raid Finder system will work in Mists of Pandaria:

    •The boss dies.
•The game automatically decides who won some loot, and gives those players a spec-appropriate item.
•Some players may still get mad, but hopefully they are mad at the laws of probability and not at the rest of the raid.

So, realistically, that’s really all you need to know to understand how it'll play out in-game. For those looking for more detail, here's what's happening behind the scenes:

    •The boss dies.
•Each player has a chance to win loot, independent of the other players.
•For each player who wins loot, the game randomly assigns them a spec-appropriate item from that boss’s loot table. This subset contains only items that the game (meaning the designers in this case) thinks are appropriate for your class and current spec.
•Notice that you aren’t rolling Need or Greed. You don’t have an option to Pass. The game just says “Take this.”
•You can’t trade this item, or that would defeat the purpose of removing the social pressure on groups of strangers. If you don’t want the item, you are free to vendor, delete, or disenchant it.

Isn't resto and oomkin loot the same? If not then it's a bug.

The new LFR roll system SUCKS - MMO-Champion BlueTracker
It looks at your spec, not your class. We decided it was a superior design to give you something for a role that we know you use rather than trying to guess whether you ever like to tank or not. There are plenty of other avenues (dungeons, factions, scenarios, crafting, the AH, PvP, guild runs, etc.) to gear up for an alternate spec.

The GC statement about LFR sorting loots by checking the actual spec of a character seems to be valid. As a warrior I never got any prot loot in fury spec and vice versa I didn't earned any DD loot while I did the tank job (in prot spec)

    LFR loot IS spec specific.

I queue as tank and DD on my warrior, usually get DD, just go through LFR in prot spec and i have NEVER gotten a dps drop, always tank (4 items now).

It would make sense that some gear may not be specifically labeled for a spec. For example, a boomkin being assigned spirit gear doesn't seem too far fetched, even though spirit may not be best for you. However I won't believe it's anything other than spec specific until someone says they queued as a healer, did the fight as a healer, and they were assigned hit gear, or a holy pally was given str tank gear.

bonus coins are another story though. people have been saying you can win anything for your class with the bonus rolls, but the one time I won bonus loot I was tanking and I got a tank piece.
