Hello.

While a friend and I were considering how best to powerlevel each other's level 57 toons, we found something funny about Hellfire Peninsula instances.
The lvl 90 character, who was party leader, forgot to take off Heroic mode. We zoned into the instance (Ramparts) and it was Heroic Mode.

My friend was able to do full Heroic clears of most BC instances that allowed me to zone in for Normal mode.
I looked via Google to see if this was a recent thing, or if people have always been able to zone in there.

Most Heroic instances and high level content requires a minimum even level of like 70, 80, 90.
But BC stuff is either nerfed or broken and you can get your easy Double Achieves, 3 socket Epic gear for lvl 70 (including weapons), and instance completion credit.
The only downside is Heroics are daily reset unless u know a way to reset trash.

Ramparts is a really fast and easy reset on Normal mode, so after doing your Heroic you can just do a couple normals and jump down to the door. I think some people just park their toons by the front door and they get last boss credit if they are close to his room.

So as you can imagine we leveled thru BC real fast and needed to do some Wrath content.
We powerleveled using Azjol Nerub because of the portal at the end, i.e. easy reset and exit.
When we hit 72 we headed to Dalaran Violet Hold because you can just park the toon inside the portal, but behind the door, and the 90 or whoever can just clear the instance without having to protect the alt. lol


The Heroic mode exploit does not seem to work in WOTLK. It was great fun while it lasted and if this is a repost, my bad.

p.s. i think some people knew this already 'cause "instances by level" on wowpedia does indicate some lower lvl access to BC content.
however you can get better rep, better herbs/mines and a higher loot level by doing your first clear on H mode in BC.

also if you can stack alts, i.e. get a full group of 4 alts and 1 90 in a clear, you get instance completion gold x 5 per clear.
with instance close together you do not have to perform reset, so that means, you could get 5x 20g x5 as many times per hour as you can squeeze instances in.

Thanks for asking. We are new to powerleveling, i.e. don't do it much. Haven't purchased WoD yet and don't have RaF going.
I have nearly full heirlooms and the characters are human warriors.

The alt was 57 two days ago. We have been afk smoking a lot etc. and have been too bored oftentimes to finish quest lines associated with some of the dungeons.

The biggest issue is boredom and run speed i.e. warriors are slower, and the level staggering of instances unlocked vs. quests avail is annoying.

however skipping the DPS queue is saving us huge time.
we are aiming for instances with minimal run time, i.e. shortcuts and back doors out etc. are good.
it's taking about 2.5 dungeons per level at my rate of quests and heirlooms.

for people without leveling gear (whether or not for your class!) it's a lot slower i am sure.
we have not tested larger groups. in wrath we're getting 600-1500 xp from normal mobs unrested.

so if we were just really trying hard, i'd say about 2 levels per hour or maybe 3.
but with our smoke breaks and slowness (we didn't bring swiftness potion etc) it's been tardy.

edit: gathering nodes in the instances adds quite a bit of XP

Hi there. Sorry I had to go to sleep for a while (finally).

Our XP gains during the 57-62 phase were truly amazing. I had some rested for a couple minutes then it went away (we had just cleared Molten Core etc. the day before or the same day for XP).
I think we were getting close to a level per run or two. Because the XP in BC did seem a bit superior than LBRS etc. It did not last forever, as the XP scaled differently in BC content in the past.
And being able to jump down to the doors in Ramps and Blood Furnace is key. The old world content doesn't usually have a back door.

We were tru Hellfire and into Zangarmarsh very fast. I feel that we should have used Hellfire instead of doing the Naga instances.


However it got boring and I wanted loot. When able to enter Gruul's Lair and Serpentshrine, we did those too, although I missed out on the Caverns of Time quest for the 2 raid items.
Gruul's precursors dropped the 70 Naaru mace w/ 3 sockets and I offhand that w/ Fury spec.

We did ALL BC instances we could (variety) as they opened up, BUT we did the Heroic cheat each time.
The emphasis here is that we did not intentionally min max. Being able to enter the Heroic mode and still gain large XP allowed for superior rep and loot gains for the next 70-80 content.
Don't forget to visit Shattrath at level 70 for socketed epics from Sunwell tier. from the vendors in the ring in Shatt.

For Wrath just do Utgarde Keep etc, then HoS/Gundrak until 75. then if melee, Sholazar Basin from 75-78 easily, by picking herbs or mines, fighting emerald drake whelp pet battle, Nesingwary quests while grinding, and then the Swindlegrin Digsite if you need it. Stormwright Shelf for mote farmers. if skinning gives XP it's even better here for u.

And then after Sholazar you're ready to go to Hyjal or Vash

It felt cheap skipping the content like that but it was fun.

I forgot to mention we did Ring of Blood at 65, and Amphitheater of Anguish at 75.
it was a good boost. i didn't bother with dailies! like pets and fishing, as normally would. we were just too busy looting.

Stacking crit gems (20!) is really broken right now w/ fury spec.
