Casual moneymakers, this is your place. People that farm with the intention of selling gold might wanna look the other way.
Contribootin' with something I wrote a few years back. I still find this useful for those new to botting.
Its guidelines of how to avoid getting a ban, not a definate way of avoiding it.
Never bot unattended.
I've been using a basic principle of not letting the bot "go by itself" for more than 20-30 mins at a time, I've usually been running wow in 2 windows on 2 accounts where 1 was botting, or having it bot while surfing the net or watching a movie.
Never farm/grind for more than 10-12 hours.
Pretty basic, don't let it run for 24/7 ... Log out and enjoy the social aspects of life, play on another account... Basicly anything but playing on the account so it doesn't look too chinese-gold-farmer-ish.
Don't flood the AH
Blizzard does look at the auctions posted. So if you have 40 stacks of Embersilk Cloth and post them all, they're probably gonna look into it.
I've been doing the "max 7-12 stacks" - So I post anywhere from 7-12 stacks of something, once they run out or are sold, post another 7-12 .
- I also strongly suggest having a banking character with a good spaced bank / a guild bank with a few tabs
Don't bot in overcrowded areas
Also pretty basic. Forexample if you have the choice of 2 good farming/grinding paths where 1 of them is around Norddrasil and the other is somewhere remote / not so much visited by other players - Go for the remote one, its almost common sense
- Keep in mind: as of 12/13-10 everywhere is still pretty crowded, so watch out where you are doing your botting.
Keep the farming to the account that is farming
What I mean by this is don't farm 40 stacks of herbs, then mail them to your other account because you have an Alchemist there.
They will look and see that its the same IPs, then do nothing - But its still attention to your accounts.
Be social
Weird principle for a botter . But what I mean is that you should write in your guild chat or /w your homies or something.
Not all the time, just every once in a while.
Keep it private
Simple. Don't let your ANYONE know your botting... Blizzard is able to check /w's, so not letting anyone know your botting is a good idea. Having someone whisper "Haha you phat botter <name>! " and you not answering it due to AFK botting isn't too appealing.
A trick I'm using when botting while I'm asleep
This depends on the bot you are using, but the one I'm using has an alarm option.
Have a table right beside your bed, place your computer there (kinda only relevant if your using a laptop). Turn the alarm options on if there are any, and then the beep will wake you (hopefully) if something is wrong.
If something needs to be corrected, tell me.
Hope this was somewhat useful.
