    Cataclysm Heroics (item level 329)

Hey guys i searched around and seem "similar" threads but they were more focused on spending JP to increase ilvl then refunding before the 2 hours. I'm very sorry if this method has been posted and it is pretty common knowledge, but some might miss it.

So your new hunter has just dinged 85? You have pretty decent quest blues, and some rep gear? Great let's go straight into heroics without doing normals. I first done this on my Paladin. And now my hunter, lol? Yeah it works fine with hunters to, having item level 339 healing gear

    1) Go to the auction house and search for "Emberfire" - it is a cloth pvp set with an item level of 339. Cloth Armor - Items - World of Warcraft

    2) Buy whatever slots are a big upgrade in item level over your current gear.

    3) Grab them from the mailbox, but do NOT equip them, a GM confirmed in a previous ticket to me, that the average item level mechanic scans the whole character, for the best "possible" item for the slot in question ... this is achieved by scanning the characters Bank, inventory, and current equipped gear.

    4) With that set in your inventory (most items go for only 40-60g on my realm so it's a bargain) you should be well over 329 item level to enter heroics.

    5) If you are like 2-3 points short still and have some spare honor points, head over to the honor vendor and grab a piece ... i picked up the gloves which were item level 352 for i think 1650 honor? Just refund them before the 2 hour timer.

Once finished just keep the cloth pvp gear in your bank for the next character you ding 85, they are BoE so can be resold after if needed. And if you aren't familiar with heroics at all (first character dinging 85?) i do advise you do some normals first, lookup tactics etc. I aimed this more towards the players who have multiple 85's ... it is pretty common knowledge but a lot of people are not aware of how the item level scanner works, and again sorry if its a repost i couldn't find a similar thread.

It's exactly those kind of things that creates a PuG with crappy geared people, who can hardly finish the dungeon without 20-30 wipes. And even if they manage to finish it, the crappy geared people are getting carried throughout the whole dungeon.

I'd suggest people to do the normal dungeons and gear up from there. If not, go ahead and gear yourself up in that way - just remember that at some point, you'll be the one carrying crappy geared people.

Ironic you say that, as I just came out of a PuG with 4 members of another guild (different realm), two of them are ready to raid at least, and the other 2 must be a couple of pieces away from fully HC geared.
The highest dps (DK) from them was averaging 9-10k on boss fights, and the boomkin around 8-9k also ... myself, in quest greens and 2 or 3 blues was hitting 12-15k on bosses.

And what class do you play yourself?

If you get a tank or healer with that kind of gear, you can definately not clear the dungeon.

On that run was trying SV hunter, though i prefer MM myself.
I do advise you only to do it on dps toons (unless you got geared friends helping then it is absolute faceroll), skill > gear.
And i have done it on a healer, albeit a Holy Paladin (made the task slightly easier) cleared HoO without any problems and thanks to a lot of luck picked up several pieces of HC gear that made the following runs a lot easier.
I've only done it with PuG's and have never had any problems, I can't imagine how much easier it would be with geared guildees.

Hunters are one of the only classes that can perform quality DPS with crappy gear.

Yeah they're a lot more lenient with gear but any good player can pull decent dps regardless. The general idea of this method anyway is to do it with a group of buddies, and get geared instantly for raids within an evening or two .. just a quick way to bypass the crappy mechanic they have.

Actually here's a better tactic using pvp gear to start out with in heroics as you may need a few pieces to upgrade your score to pass 329 like I did and I'm fine doing heroics with deeps, healing and tanking characters. After you buy the pvp gear if your too low on item levels, reforge to get more of the pve stats you need (priest ie. spirit//tank ie. dodge/parry) and then enhance the items with enchanting scrolls, belts buckles, I promise you some of the top server players on EU server like Paragon have 252 pvp gear as their bread and butter so keep an open mind as item levels only go so far; skill, character knowledge & spec, instance mechanics and teamwork are keys to the win!
+rep for any common sense this provided you.

I used some of them to get my warlock to 329, and he was still top DPS in the group around 9-10k in the first dungeon. A good player in bad gear will still do more dps than a bad player in good gear. The reason most groups wipe is not for lack of dps, it's because they don't realize that the new dungeons take a greater degree of skill, understanding, and cooperation.
