Hey guys i searched around and seem "similar" threads but they were more focused on spending JP to increase ilvl then refunding before the 2 hours. I'm very sorry if this method has been posted and it is pretty common knowledge, but some might miss it.
So your new hunter has just dinged 85? You have pretty decent quest blues, and some rep gear? Great let's go straight into heroics without doing normals. I first done this on my Paladin. And now my hunter, lol? Yeah it works fine with hunters to, having item level 339 healing gear
1) Go to the auction house and search for "Emberfire" - it is a cloth pvp set with an item level of 339. Cloth Armor - Items - World of Warcraft
2) Buy whatever slots are a big upgrade in item level over your current gear.
3) Grab them from the mailbox, but do NOT equip them, a GM confirmed in a previous ticket to me, that the average item level mechanic scans the whole character, for the best "possible" item for the slot in question ... this is achieved by scanning the characters Bank, inventory, and current equipped gear.
4) With that set in your inventory (most items go for only 40-60g on my realm so it's a bargain) you should be well over 329 item level to enter heroics.
5) If you are like 2-3 points short still and have some spare honor points, head over to the honor vendor and grab a piece ... i picked up the gloves which were item level 352 for i think 1650 honor? Just refund them before the 2 hour timer.
Once finished just keep the cloth pvp gear in your bank for the next character you ding 85, they are BoE so can be resold after if needed. And if you aren't familiar with heroics at all (first character dinging 85?) i do advise you do some normals first, lookup tactics etc. I aimed this more towards the players who have multiple 85's ... it is pretty common knowledge but a lot of people are not aware of how the item level scanner works, and again sorry if its a repost i couldn't find a similar thread.![]()
