If you want to see the cinematics whilst you play Cataclysm, then you should install the game with the CD. The digital download doesn't include cinematics.

We’d like to take a moment to clarify how we’ll be delivering World of Warcraft: Cataclysm cinematics to players who purchase the expansion digitally through Battle.net or download the installer from the web in the future.

Prior to the December 7 launch of Cataclysm, all current World of Warcraft players will receive the Cataclysm intro cinematic as part of an upcoming patch. In addition, all other in-game cinematics (including previous ones such as the Wrathgate movie) will be available for download to players who have not previously installed them. These cinematics will be automatically downloaded in the background while you play the game, after other critical game data has been received.

it didnt work at first for some reason after i went into preferences and ticked "allow quick play regardless of network speed" the download started. thanks

I have had this working for me for the past few days, no problems. I was even playing less than an hour ago. I took a break, ate some dinner and went to restart up WoW, it froze mid fight and DC'd. So I tried to log back in multiple times where it said, Unable to connect.

I closed WoW completely and went to restart it via the launcher, it now says, "Launcher cannot obtain patching information. Please check your internet connection."

I went back to the WTF folder to change it back to "LK" instead of "CT" but it was already set. I am going to change it back and reboot my comp to see if it fixes it. If not, I will try deleting the WTF and cache folder and start fresh again. If that doesn't work I guess my only option is to repair...

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up, either an update or something does seem to be not communicating correctly with the patch info.

i dont get the point doing this... if you are going to buy the game in the a shop on release day and you got the pre-order download you will be home at 1am(shop opening at 0:00) because you have to travel home. and than you are happy that you dont have to install the cd and save time. but if you pre-order you will play the game at 0:01am. i dont see the "omg i save time"-argument.

You'll already have Cata downloaded, at that point all you'll need is a key. Otherwise you'll be getting home at 1, installing Cata, and playing some time around 2:00 am.
