Formula to help you calculate your gross income on disenchanting mats

First off, I did not create this formula, Give the guys from "cataclysm gold secrets" the rep, I'm merely posting it here for people who don't have the guide.

If you use Auctioneer, There is a built in sub-addon(?) called Enchantrix, What it does is it shows you the items and the proc rate of what it yields when disenchanted. A very common strategy is to buy cheap greens that you DE and resell the mats on the AH for a profit. Here's a little formula to help you calculate all of that.

    ((AxA1xA2) + (BxB1xB2) + (CxC1xC2))/100

A = the percentage drop rate of enchanting material 1
A1 = the percentage drop rate of enchanting material 2
A2 = the percentage drop rate of enchanting material 3

B= the number of enchanting material 1 that might drop
B1= the number of enchanting material 2 that might drop
B2= the number of enchanting material 3 that might drop

C=the current price of enchanting material 1
C1=the current price of enchanting material 2
C2=the current price of enchanting material 3

Formula to help you calculate your gross income on disenchanting mats

I tried this out in excel, using http://www.wowhead.com/item=42337#disenchanting
I used the Drop % and I said 2 infinite dusts, 1 lesser cosmic, 1 lesser dream shard, put the prices (2g, 5g,2g respectively) in and got 41.8. This seems a little high. Can you explain it a little better please

Sun Rock Ring - Item - World of Warcraft Sun Rock ring
    [(AxA1xA2) + (BxB1xB2) + (CxC1xC2)]/100
    [ (.63 * .22 * .03) + (3 * 2 * 1) + ( 2 * 5 * 2) ] / 100
    = 0.26004158

So now what does that 26% mean? Is that supposed to be your % profit? I don't understand how you use that number once you have it. Without somehow including the cost you're of the item that you're disenchanting I don't see how you can get any idea of your profit.

The formula is wrong and actually makes absolutely no sense. Why would you multiply the price of the materials, the drop percentages, and the numbers it can drop. Even adding those sets of numbers doesn't make sense.

Here is a good post about how to calculate it: http://www.wow-pro.com/wiki/disenchanting_profit

The whole point is to anticipate what your approximate profit is going to be (if any) prior to performing the disenchanting process..so no.
