Need help: Eu -> us.

Hi there.:wave:

I am looking for someone who can explain to me, how I can get to play on a US account with an EU installed game. I know its possible with Realmlist changes, and a new client. Therefore I am looking for a 'dummy' guide on how I can do so.

Open realmlist.wtf (found in \World of Warcraft\Data\enXX\). You then need to change what is in there to

set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlistbn ""
set portal us

That's basically it, unless they have changed it since I stopped playing. If you need more help/info/it doesn't work let me know.

I did that, it doesnt seem to work :S I heard something about some slightly diffrent Client or something like that :/ Thanks for the fast answer though.

It's pretty simple, i do it all the time, apart from what you need to change in the realm file, go to DATA folder and create a copy of enUS folder and rename it to enGB (if you want to play with the english version).
After that, go inside the new enGB folder and whatever files you find named "something-enUS.MPQ" change it to "something--enGB.MPQ".

After this, and just to make sure you connect to the right place, go to World of Warcraft\WTF, find the file Config.wtf and inside that file search for the next entries:

SET locale "enUS"
SET realmlist "us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com"
SET patchlist "us.version.worldofwarcraft.com"

and change them to:

SET locale "enGB"
SET realmList "eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com"
SET patchlist "eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com"

To what version of EU game are you trying to connect?


Oh wait, i read it wrong, was thinking on playing on EU game with US client but it's the way around, not a prob, just take what i've said above and change enGB to enUS

I am trying to connect to the US, not the EU, I am from the EU. 3.3.5a I guess.

Basically you have to do 2/3 things.

Create a DATA for enUS, change to stuff inside so it works together with enUS instead of enGB, change the realmlist.wtf inside DATA\enUS (new created folder)
And finally go to WTF\Config.wtf and change the stuff pointing to enGB to:
SET locale "enUS"
SET realmlist "us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com"
SET patchlist "us.version.worldofwarcraft.com"

must work that way cause that's what I do all the time (just did it last week and worked without a prob)
