I'll share my story, not so different, and I don't really "beg" or "ask" people for help. :-)

So I made this new shaman on a horde server. I made a few silvers by questing, went to AH, turned those few silvers into a couple of gold. Got some cloth and just spammed LF Tailor to make bags. Some guy/girl came to help as a tailor. I asked her to make me a few 6 slot bags, gave her the linen and the thread! Didn't have enough gold to tip, so told her sorry I can't tip much, I'm new to the server. The tailor made the bags, traded with me and handed me 50g at the same time as the bags. I was like... umm.. you don't have to give me gold, he/she said -- it's ok, you will need it! I thanked her and turned those 50g into 2000g in the AH within a few days :-)

Oh how I love the AH. lol. But her kindness wasn't forgotten. In fact, after I had enough, I emailed 50g back to that female Belf Priest. :-)

Another thing to consider is joining a reputable leveling guild. When I was new to a realm, I checked the /who list to see what guild the majority of lv 10-30's were in. I then looked up that guild on wowarmory, checked out their guild website, and whispered an online officer. The officer said that they wanted to talk with me in Ventrilo, and once I talked with him and some other officers (and the GM), they invited me into the guild. Just prior to me whispering the officer, however, a member of that guild gave me 20g because they saw me questing and maybe they saw my General chat where I asked about good leveling guilds and told everyone that I was new to the realm.

Joining guilds at low levels can be very beneficial to both you and the guild as a whole because you and the guild learn to cooperate with each other. You socialize with members in the guild, earning their trust and eventually being a part of their "in-game family".

When I ran guilds in the past for leveling characters as well as raiders, I would use whatever excess material was in the guild bank to make things that would be beneficial to the members. I would use our free guild website's profession search tool, find members who would skill up from crafting things like bags, and then I would send them the materials to craft things. Once they sent things like bags back to me, I would then disperse those bags among the low levels whom I felt would benefit from them. Those who didn't have a need for them were kind enough to send them back so I could keep passing them on to people who needed them.

I wouldnt think of this as begging. Rather asking for help, and there are helpful players out there who like to help new players out. It isnt about making gold, it is about getting bags when you start on a new server and probably only have a few silver coins. With this "method" (or what to call it) you dont ask for anything really, except the location where you can find bags. If a helpful players sees it and decides to send you a few bags, its his call. You arent running around begging players, you are simply stating that you exist and want some help starting out.

Ask for help with something people can help with + you're new = 99.9% of the time you get what you want.

This is common sense, which is why I won't rep. It took minimal brain power to formulate this thread.
