It all depends of your servers' economy. I run this technique on a Low Populated server on the Horde side. Blacksmiths are something of a rare breed, or at least good ones, and so my items are in high demand. However, the price of the regeants fluctuates HUGELY as people undercut etc.

You just have to find the right time to buy by practicing the technique.
