NOTE: I do not have access to WoW atm, so I cannot test my macros to check if they work correctly. I am going home on Sunday, I will then test all this out ingame, will also start to include pictures.
I am going back to playing WoW soon, after having a break for over half a year. Before that time I was doing casino for about a year straight, that netted me about 300k gold in total. I was the supreme casino guy on my server. (EU)
I dominated, I also had a guild so people easilly could identify me as the real casino. I bought full tuxedo set. Tabard also had "gambler icon". Another nice tip is to have a rose or something in your offhand (just for the sake of looking special, all the other mules with be walking around with lvl 1 gear starting zone stuff)
Sadly I do not have any screenshots, as they would do great here but anyways i'll start:
1. Create a lvl 1 char, preferably a gnome female rogue, because they start with nice black boots (I tricked alot around with this, and people seem to have more compassion for small cute gnomes, they look so innocent and trustworthy, which of course you will be, but the customer never knows)
2. Make your guild, some name with casino in it. Example; "The Real Casino" or some.
3. Make many different casino names in the same kind as the one you are going to use. This way mules that want to copy you, will not have almost identical name. (I had ALOT of people trying to make same name as me) This way you stay more unique. If you do not have access to many char slots, just make a trial account for easy access to 10 slots.
4. Get your casino outfit (full tuxedo gear, red rose, black boots that fit with ur tuxedo, tabard icon with dices or spades icon)
5. Set up your macros (VERY IMPORTANT). Having efficient macros will help you alot. At tops I had 10+ players playing casino at the same time.
- Advertise Macro: do NOT spam this. Keep it short and informative!
Code:
/s {Star} Welcome to "xxx's" Casino, whisper me for full rules! {Star}
Comment: This is preferable to put on action bar (Hotkey 5 or higher)
- Whisper Rules Macro: This is for when people whisper you and you reply the rules (this is to prevent posting rules in say chat for less spam).
Code:
/r Minimum bid: 5g | Maximum bid: Unlimited
/r How to play: Trade your bet amount
/r Do NOT roll before I announce your name in RaidWarning
/r If you do, your roll is NOT counted
/r 1-66 = Lose | 67-97 = Double amount | 98-100 = Triple
Comment: I suggest you include the triple winnings or even 4x (Quad), this will add alot of excitement to your casino. And many of my previous customers played my casino for the sake of excitement in WoW, due to boredom.
This macro is best to put at some place it is easy to reach, due to you will be pressing it every time someone whispers you for rules. (Hotkey 1-3)
- RaidWarning Macro: This macro is for when you announce in RaidWarning, group, and raid for who's turn it is to roll, this is for you to easier keep track of who's turn it is. You MUST have this macro.
Code:
/rw {Star}%t please Roll!{Star}
/raid {Star} %t please Roll!{Star}
/group {Star}%t please Roll!{Star}
Comment: With this macro, you simply target the player who's turn it is to roll, and click your macro. This macro will be used alot, so place it somewhere convenient. (Hotkey 1-3)
- Win Macro: This is for when target wins (you do NOT announce roll for a new customer before the last one finished his roll and you have traded the money if they won).
Code:
/raid %t wins!
/trade
Comment: This one also requires you to have your current customer targeted. BEWARE: There is a bug where it actually say's that the current trader is your guy, but in reality you are trading someone else. This happens if some random dude trades you a milisecond before you click your macro to trade your winner. What will happen then is that you payout the winnings to the wrong person, even though the UI says that you give the money to the correct winner. To prevent this, sometimes just close the current trade window and click the macro again. This has happened to me maybe 5 times total, so VERY rare.
- Raid Rules Macro: For posting the macro in raids, if people ask there.
Code:
/raid Minimum bid: 5g | Maximum bid: Unlimited
/raid How to play: Trade your bet amount
/raid Do NOT roll before I announce your name in RaidWarning
/raid If you do, your roll is NOT counted
/raid 1-66= Lose | 67-97 = Double amount | 98-100 = Triple
- The Polite Whisper Macro: You need to right click player and select whisper, when the [type text window] is open, click the macro
Code:
/whisper Hi there, want to try out casino?
Comment: Here you can put whatever you think might attract the most players, and provoke the LEAST players.
6. Now you need to find a good spot to stand in Ironforge (preferably) I usually sit on the right or left side of "Bank - Bridge lane" Tell people to sit down aswell, and not stand on top of each other, so you can easier click them with your macros.
7. I suggest not using your main account for a casino. Buying a second retail for 1 month free is a good idea.
8. Never use your main character for casino, you will have some dicks that will try to annoy you with whispers.
9. EU servers; THIS CAN GET YOU BANNED, if you get a warning or two, I suggest buying another retail acc and continuing there. In total I got like 2 warnings, even though I ran my services for over a year. A great tip is to not spam your advertise macro too often.
10. You need alot of gold if you want to have unlimited betting amount. I operated with unlimited for a long time. The highest bid I experienced was 10k gold (he lost..... twice 6)
11. There will be some emo kids, mainly cause you will bankerrupt many people. Casino is like a drug addiction, once you started you can't stop.
12. Sometimes you will encounter a scenario like this; You just announced a player to roll, after that another customer traded you like 20g, and clicked the trade button (his side is marked green), however cause you do not want to have to deal with several trades at once incase a queue happens (and you forget it) you only have people trade you 1 by 1. But you keep the trade window open incase the current roller loses. BUT he won, so you cancel the trade and trade the winning customer. However the other guy that traded you might think you accepted the trade. He now wants to roll. Cases like this happened to me alot, I had to explain to people to pay attention to the phrase "Trade completed" or "Trade cancelled" or else you will get alot of angry customers, out of a very small mistake.
13. Tweak around with the macros as you like, better %winnings for the customer, or better for you. Add / remove the icons ({IconName}), I use them for more fancy looks and easier to spot RaidWarning.
14. Do not start off too hard with bets, you might end up not having money to pay back the winnings (BAD idea)
15. It will be hard for you to start off with a casino on a server. Just like any new product, you have to build up +Rep. Once you get this it will be much easier to gain money.
16. Another good tip is to whisper people if they want to play casino, people are generally nicer if they feel you are referring to them personally.
17. Act like you do not know casino is against the EULA or ToS, that way the wankers that threaten with reporting you might have sympathi and skip itI.
18. I'll say again, over ALL the time I used casino, I have gotten TWO warnings, now think about that I have earned 300k gold on this (This was in TBC days and early wotlk). People nowadays have MUCH more gold to play around with. Do not act stupid and spam your casino advertisements, I have seen so many idiots spamming like crazy in /say /yell /2, they will get banned quick.
19. EVERYONE that plays your casino should be added to your friends list. This way you can ask them later if they want to play. (I have earned so much more money because of this)
20. You should be happy when players win in your casino, that way they will spread the word, which equals more cash for you in the long run.
21. If you bump into people that think they can beat your casino prepare for some heavy gold income, cause there is no way in hell they will be able to beat a casino with a 66% loss chance. The higher you put your minimum bid, the harder it is to use the "double per loss tactic". Scenario: A player has read up about "double per loss tactic" which means, everytime you lose you double your previous bet. If he starts off by betting 5g, it will look like this;
1 time in a row:
5g - 66% lose chance
2 times in a row:
10g - 43,56% lose chance
3 times in a row:
20g - 28,75% lose chance
4 times in a row:
40g - 18,97% lose chance
5 times in a row:
80g - 12,52% lose chance
6 times in a row:
160g - 8,27% lose chance
7 times in a row:
320g - 5,46% lose chance
6):
This is where the numbers really start to add up6):
8 times in a row:
640g - 3,60% lose chance
9 times in a row:
1280g - 2,38% lose chance
10 times in a row:
2560g - 1,57% lose chance
(I have had countless of people lose this many times)
11 times in a row:
5120g - 1,04% lose chance
12 times in a row:
10240g - 0,68% lose chance
Total loss at this point:
20475g = twocentsPROFITtwocents
At this point, most players are bankerrupt. Now, lets look at the percentage. There is a 0,68% chance that a player using the double bet system will lose
20475 gold if he starts off with
5g. Now, if you as the casino was sitting on lets say
50k gold. And lets say this dude wanted to play his
5g betting game until he won
1k. You can see for yourself that the odds really are not in his favor. He would have to win your casino TWOHUNDRED times for him to earn
1k gold. Now, 200 times with a 0,68% chance to lose
20475 gold for EACH
5 gold, does not seem very smart. I hope this explained why you want to play vs double betters.
22. At some point you will (like I experienced quite fast) not care if you lose money to customers, the only amounts I was excited about was bets with 5k ++.
23. Another great tip to draw customers is to edit your "Win Macro";
Code:
/raid %t wins!
/trade
/say {Star} Winner! %t wins! Grats! {Star}
This will make others players curious of what he won.
Total winnings (in average) is: (1 - .31*2 - .03*3)*100 %
which is 29%, this means on average you earn 29% of what any player trades you.
This is my 1st version of my guide. I WILL improve it when I got time. Comments on what I can improve is gladly accepted. Screenshoots will be uploaded in a few days.
