Ok i just spent the last 6 hours changing all my gems and going back and forth to the training dummy. Using lord nikons gemming i was at 6218 dps after 3mins, [stoped at 3mins because thats when summon gargoyle cooldown finishes]. Using 7itaniums gemming i was at 6159 dps after 3 mins, wich is a small difference but still a difference. Using invadertags gemming i wanted to kill myself after failing like a noob and only doing 5718dps but i hit harder once in a while lol. [Each was tested 10 times and the numbers shown are the average].
So it seams that this guy knows what he is talking about and once again Elitist Jerks and other jerks get things wrong.
I would like to say that he went the wrong way about his original post and omg it needs work but has all the right idea even if it was just a rage!
I would give +small rep for making some effot.

P.S doing icc otherday saw a 5012gs dk do 6.8kdps overall data beating 5789gs dk's 6.4k! It's not all about gear but it can help.

Random Number Generator is random. You should have set yourself some more constant variables and found a better way to benchmark your dps etc.

If I was going to regem and renchant a few times to find the perfect spec, I would want to do more testing before wasting all my gold.

1) DPS test for 5 minutes (three times for each spec). Write down your DPS and DAMAGE DONE for each attempt and each spec. Some specs deliver better dps but lower end damage.

2) DPS test until you have done X amount of damage (three times for each spec). Write down your DPS and DAMAGE DONE for each attempt and each spec. Some specs deliver better dps but lower end damage.
Check how long it takes for you to reach that X amount of damage each time and for each spec.

3) Learn to theorycraft. Find out EXACTLY why it is you are doing more dps or damage with a given setup.

As much as i would like to be disproven, I have some concerns with your tests.

Did you bot for 6 hours?

If you didnt i might be a little concerned because pressing buttons for 6 hours you're bound to get tired and mess up a rotation, skewing the data.

You also didn't include your average item level gear or build or rotation or even spec.

If you were blood spec obviously gemming str+crit isn't going to help you.

From an unholy point of view, i know just gemming for Str has always been the tried and tested rule, the same with using the +agi crit meta gem but this is not always the case

Firstly if you have not hit the HIT cap then gemming for hit is a must

Secondly It depends on the stat bonuses for using the correct socket.
IE if an armor set has a +6 str bonus for using a red and yellow gem, then it is better to use a +20 str and an inscribed amerite (+10 str + 10 crit) to get the socket bonus.

Similarly, the +21 Crit 3% crit damage is better than the +21 agi if you have 2 socket bonuses of 6 str (you can use a nightmare's tear in one and purple gem in the other)

BTW I play a 5980 GS DK DPS as my main... I pull top dps in every raid I have been in in the last month
