Ink of the Sea

Hello everyone. I would like to share with you another one money making tip.

As most of you already know there is an NPC in Dalaran named Jessica Sellers that trades any kind of normal quality Ink for Ink of the Sea. That should normaly lead to the conclusion that other normal Inks should not have average AH price higher than Ink of the Sea price. False! Take a look at your AH and you will realize that some Inks sell higher than Ink of the Sea and some sell MUCH higher.

In my server Ink of the Sea sells for 30g – 35g whereas Celestial Ink - Item - World of Warcraft , Jadefire Ink - Item - World of Warcraft , Midnight Ink - Item - World of Warcraft sell for much higher from 60g to 100g.

What you should do is to buy all the cheap Ink of the Sea and trade them for your server’s high seller Inks. Also breaking the stacks to 4 – 5 helps a lot to sell them much faster since most of the people that sell glyphs post around 4 – 5 per time.

Thanks, but even the prices are high on my server they don't buy it, they simply buy from the vendor trading the higher ink

I just checked on my server and can confirm the following prices according to my auctioneer database as well as current prices up atm:

Ink of the Sea = 40 gold per stack
Celestial Ink = 120 gold per stack (80 gold profit)
Jadefire Ink = 80 gold per stack (40 gold profit)
Midnight Ink = 80 gold per stack (40 gold profit)

Bleh, more common sense than evah, buy ink of the sea cheap and trade it for free to something else and sell it expensiver.

The concept of trading this for this is common, but this is after all a guide. Many people do not know that you can do this (most people only become aware of it if it involves their profession).

All in all it is still a guide to make gold.

Ok so here are my results after just under a day of testing:

I went and bought 3 stacks of Ink of the Sea for 40gold per stack
To make things easier that = 10 gold per stack of 5 Ink of the Sea.

I then went and bought 40 Celestial Ink, 10 Jadefire Ink and 10 Ethereal Ink.
Unfortunately it turns our after all Ethereal Ink does not sell so well so I made a bit of a loss there but I put them up anyways because it's all about experimenting:

My auction window looked like this:
5X Celestial Ink - 25g buyout
5X Celestial Ink - 25g buyout
5X Celestial Ink - 25g buyout
5X Celestial Ink - 25g buyout
(I only put one of the two stacks up of Celestial Ink)
5X Jadefire Ink - 32g buyout
5X Jadefire Ink - 32g buyout

5X Ethereal Ink - 10g buyout
5X Ethereal Ink - 10g buyout

So far my 20 Celestial Ink has sold for a total of 100 gold (and I bought the Ink of the Sea for them at 40 gold each so I'm happy).

The others are yet to sell.

1) It is not a repost there fore legit
2) It is not common sense because it involves not very well-known knowledge (At least it isn't to non inscriptionists etc)
3) I gave him 6 rep because he deserves it.

It is quite subjective what is common sense and what is not.

If the majority of the players know something then it is considered common sense.


If I was to say just buy cheap and sell low would not be a guide since the majority of the people knows it.

If I was to say though buy cheap transform it to something and sell it it would be a guide as long as the majority of people did not know it could be profitable.

I really have to move servers because every little trick posted on these forums is already being done to death by others on mine.

Either that, or loads of people are selling them while leveling inscription - either way there are so many of each of these inks on my AH that it's not remotely profitable.

Another nice idea along the same lines as many of the other posts on this forum, shame my server is too over-populated.
