3.3 Getting gold on opposing faction

Sometimes it's useful to have gold on the opposing side, I play alliance and often note horde prices can be cheaper. Also there are items I'd like to be able to buy and send to my alliance characters. However I don't want to lose gold on the cross faction Auction House!

Solution

As of patch 3.3 the following change has occurred:

Bind-on-Account Items: Players can now mail Bind-on-Account items to characters on the same account and realm regardless of faction. Please note this only applies to Bind-on-Account items. Other items or gold cannot be sent via mail to characters on the same realm and account if they are from differing factions.

As such we can now give gold to our opposing faction characters using:

Wintergrasp Commendation
Binds to account
Item Level 1
Use: Grants you 2000 honor.

These cost 30 Stone Keepers shards or 9 Wintergrasp marks of honor a time.

Passing 5 of these = 10 000 honor, which allows you to buy a single epic gem on the opposing faction.

Therefore you can give some initial AH investment money without having anything taken from you.

This may be of help to people in a similar situation to myself where prices vary a great deal both sides of the AH and are fed up of losing gold in ah cuts.

No, what he means is that you send honor to alt on other server, then buy gem for them and auction them, so u get money for the honor on alt on other server

It's not on an alt on another server, it's on the same server as you can now have both alliance and horde characters on the same (pvp) server.

In terms of getting the money back that depends on your aim.
(for the purposes of this I'll use *alt* to describe the opposing faction character)

- You can either use it on your alt just as is, ie you want gold on that character.

- You can use it to buy faction specific recipes, pets and such items and then pass them over the neutral ah for 1 copper to be sold by your main.

- You can buy cheaper items and simply pass the items back as is and sell them for profit on your main. For example arctic furs were sometimes 40 gold cheaper for us than horde. So rather than buying a gem and selling it for 150 gold, i could have passed the honor, bought 3 arctic furs and passed them back. Selling these for 270 gold - Making an additional 120 gold.

There are many possibilities of what can be done, most aren't really anything special (other than just giving gold to your alt). But it can be of help avoiding some of the cross faction ah hassle.

How you use it is up to you, but I know it'll help me play the AH's on both sides of the knife.

1) Create a trial account on alt's faction (which is the opposite of the main).

2) Make a new character on trial account

3) Give to trial Expensive items

4) Move trial to neutral AH

5) Open a new wow instance, log main and move him to neutral AH

6) Post 1 by 1 the items for 1 copper

7) Buy them with main

Also trials are seperate accounts so the BoA stuff doesn't work although I'm not sure thats directly related ^^ although relevant to the thread.

You are saying that moving items from 1 faction to other faction with the help of Neutral AH is new ? LOL hahahah there have been like 50-60 guides ....
