Note: I do no take credit for creating any of these addons.
Okay, so if you're new to WoW, or if you're starting an alt, the WoW UI given to you isn't exactly friendly to the new
character. Not that its difficult, but it's not helpful. Here's a small guide to help you get through that.
First: The installer
I wouldn't suggest downloading the curse installer. Although they say they don't have security issues, I've had bad experiences with it. It's your choice, but I wouldn't suggest installing it.
Second: The Addons (Updated: 11/30/09)
- QuestHelper - Addons - Curse
This is the best quest addon out, IMO. It's a must have.- Altoholic - Addons - Curse
If you're leveling an Alt, this is a great addon. If you need to find out something about your main or other characters, this addon helps you out greatly so you don't have to spend most of your time switching between characters.- Shadowed Unit Frames - Addons - Curse
A nice UI addon for unit frames gives a better cosmetic and customizable look to the WoW UI- Atlasloot Enhanced - Addons - Curse
Atlas loot has always been a great tool for me. Before deciding what instance to run, I always run to it to see what I need. Its necessary for anyone who runs dungeons.- Postal - Addons - Curse
Not the most necessary addon, but its great to help one shorten their time doing mundane tasks, like opening the mail.
Third: Posting
What really helps your peers is your ability to share your knowledge. Post a link to an addon you think should be featured here and I'll check it out.
