[How To] Protect your Account - Using your iPhone or iPod Touch!

iPhone and iPod Touch Authenticator

Hello MMOwned! Well, I recently wanted to protect my account because I just leveled up my 3rd 80! (Go me !) Anyways, I was going to buy an authenticator, UNTIL I ran into this neat little App!

If you can follow instructions easily, you can just download the link above and figure out how to do this. But, if you would like a quick tutorial read on =D

Part II - Set-up

1) Download the app from here - https://us.battle.net/account/suppor...h-download.xml

2) Install the app on your device (you will need to do this on via iTunes or on the app store)

3) Open the App and you will be given a serial code

4) Go to http://battle.net/bma and go to your account management page

5) Click on 'Continue to Account Management'

6) Enter the serial code that was given to you

Now you are done! (Hoo-rah!) You have successfully protected and added an authenticator to your account! Congratulations!

Now all you have to do is open the app and it will give you a code to type in, and your account is virtually impossible to hack! There is a ONE IN A MILLION shot that someone will guess the code!

WTF you mean you "ran in to this little app"? Blizzard had it in on the WoW Launcher for months. Anybody who gave a damn would have already downloaded and installed it by FOLLOWING BLIZZARD'S OWN INSTRUCTIONS.

This is the same thing as saying "Here's a guide to keep your account secure. Change your password frequently. If you don't know how to do this, here is a quick tutorial: Step 1: go to the *change password link Step 2: change password".

It's true though...the blizzard authenticator is still on the launcher right now and has been since it came out. Follow on screen instructions and voila! Also works for other types of java enabled devices as well.

To be honest this App has pros and cons.

If you drop your phone or it breaks or you restore it or you get a new one, you will be given a different serial code and you wont be able to log into your account. Make sure you write down you first serial code and keep it in a safe place in case this happens. You will have to call Blizzard no matter what. Overall, i don't highly recommend this application due to this.

Exactly the same as if you get an authenticator, if you loose it or break it, the same thing occour

Hey nice thread!

My account just got hacked because I logged in on some1 pc's who got hacked (FAIL)...

Anyways I was wondering.. I got a battle.net account with 2 wow accounts under it.
My question if i get the auth would that mean my friend who ''owns'' the second account would ask me everytime for the authcode..
Or can he also install the app and use it from his own phone?

Also, if you drop your iphone/itouch, or restore it......you don't lose the original, it retains the same serial from the backup in itunes. I replaced mine when messing with my phone and got a new serial which locked me outta my wow account lol...so I backed it up from an old backup in itunes.
