Hello lately I decided to finally pull myself together and get full lockpicking. It took about 2 days with casual grinding. What i'm gonna include in this guide is:
Please note this guide is for alliance only from 1-170. After that horde can use it too.
1: Before we begin.
2: 1-70 - Redrigde Mountains.
3: 71-150 - Hillsbrad Foothills.
4: 151-225 - Badlands.
5: 226-250 - Tanaris
6: 251-300 - Eastern Plaguelands.
7: 301-350 - Zangarmarsh.
8: 351-400 - Icecrown.
9: Credits.
Before we begin.
Glyphs
To improve downtime and be more efficient what you wanna do is go to the Auction House and buy 2 glyphs.
1st one is called Glyph of Pick Lock. This will reduce casting time on Lock picking to instant. (Get this or regret it later :P)
2nd one is called Glyph of Pick Pocket. This will increase range on pick pocket by 5 yards. (This will become very usefull once you get to Northrend.)
Talents
Also I recommend you respecc, if not already is Assasin/Sublety as main or off spec.
This means 6 seconds lower CD on stealth, 15% faster movement in stealth.
And another 15% from 2/2 Fleet Footed
And Ofc master of deception. (Makes you less noticeable in stealth). ;)
Macros
Trust me this one you'll never replace again, a pickpocketing macro:
#show pick pocket
/cleartarget
/targetenemy
/cast pick pocket
Basically you can just run past mobs spammin' this and it'll pick pocket em. (Remember to turn on auto loot).
When your out finding Lockboxes spam this macro on EVERY mob, not only will you get lockboxes which can increase your skill too, but you also have chance of getting BoE epics and greens ;)

Another Macro that Smygelito suggested is also very useful, it goes like this
#Show Cheap shot
/cast pick pocket
/stopcasting
/cast Cheap shot
You can replace Cheap shot with any opener spell.
1-100 - Westfall.
I'm guessing you've already done the first rogue quest. I did mine about 2 years ago so I don't remember much about it, but basically you go to the Mill in Redrigde mountains. (Trust me you will love your Glyph of Lockpicking here)
Not much to say just spam em untill you reach 70.
100-150 - Hillsbrad Foothills.
Head to Hillsbrad, to durnholde keep, you don't have to bother picklocking mobs around seeing their lockboxes will be skill lvl ones, which are the same you practiced in Westfall in the mill.
There will be lockboxes scattered all around in the keep with different skill level requirements. (105, 110, 115)
151-225 - Badlands
Head to Angor Fortress.
Here what you want to do is pick lock ALL the dwarfs here, they drop lockboxes that will skill you up from 151 to 175. Once you reach 175 you can open some of the lockboxes in the fortress. However there are still some lockboxes you wont be able to pick untill you reach 200 skill.
226-250 - Tanaris
Head to Tanaris, at the pirate cove. Pick lock every pirate you see and look around for lockboxes, they spawn fast and are everywhere.
251-300 - Eastern Plaguelands.
Head to Tyr's hand and start lockpicking.
Theese mobs are elite don't be too cocky if your not 80. ;)
301-350 - Zangarmarsh
Head to Feralfen village, remember to pick pocket mobs and there should be about 10-15 lockboxes up at the time.
351-400 - Icecrown
This is where I did something different, from most other people. Take a look on the Icecrown map, where you see Icecrown Citadel there should be a smaller citadel right next to, that's where you wanna go. It's filled with elites but that's no problem with the talents I suggested.
To pick pocket all the elites in the room takes about 1 minute and you usually walk out with anything between 1-10 lockboxes. Now head down to "The Conflagaration" and start pick pocketing, theres a tons of mobs walking around so just go crazy, after about 10 minutes head back to the place with the elites. Rinse and repeat untill you reach 400.
soto also suggests you go Nagrand @ Kil'sorrow Fortress for this. :) Thanks
