Okay I discovered this method today and it was a pretty good one though.
My account got hacked by Kallerballer (so beware) 2 days ago when I asked him to make some gold using the casino guide thing and gave him my account name and password.
Basically he sold all of my "sell-able" items to get more gold and then steal it (had 4080g and after he sold everything had 4334g).
I made a ticket in-game saying that I was keylogged and my items got hacked and I want them back.
After 2 days got EVERY single hacked item back and the gold remained, so.. more profit (+300g extra!) thanks Kallerballer.
You can do it too, and get MORE gold.

Requirements:

1.A good friend of yours which you can trust.
2.Patience.
3.Some gold to buy extra items and get more profit!


Howto:

Step 1:

Put a good friend of yours (which have a different ISP) to change your WoW password and after to login into your WoW account and sell items from your main character (such as items from the bank and what you wear).
Like you have 1,5K gold, he will sell all of your items and get 2K gold!
Recommendation: Before you do it buy items that cost a high price when you sell it to a vendor so you can get more gold after.

Step 2:

While he does it, try to login into the account to disconnect him, after put him to login back (so you'll have a little "fight" to make this more credible).
After few tries tell ur friend to give up and change the password!

Step 3:

Go in-game, login into your character and then "Open a ticket" and pretend that you didn't know what happened.
Say that you got keylogged and your items got hacked (that the hacker sold them) and you want them back!
Recommendation: Use your own social skills while doing the ticket, I just gave you a tip.
Recommendation #2: Use the in-game ticket form instead of Webform!

Step 4:

After few days of waiting: PROFIT!
Hint: They will send you an E-Mail to announce you.

This is quite old.
And rarely ever works. Blizzard isn't dumb anymore and will most likely make you go through the whole recovery process.
I wouldn't recommend doing this.

I just made a ticket and after 2 days got my items back! No recovery progress, well at least for me.

doesnt work... ive been actually hacked twice and even if your just missing gold/items they will most likely lock your account until you can prove your identity than it can take up to two weeks just to get your crap restored.. if they restore it.

Yea I've heard that at some of my buddies they locked the account for investigations, as for me they just sent the items via ingame mailbox

i have seen some friends that got hacked get all of their stuff back so i theory this could work. but as said before GM's are unpredictable.

when i got hacked the farmer who hacked my account farmed tonnes of herbs, when they got reimbursed im sure the gm i contacted was retarded he reimburse my items like 9 times and i ended up with 13kg, winrar imo

You had 4Kg before you got hacked? After you got hacked you got 4.3Kg, right?
- Hm, if you calculate the approxiate time for an GM Ticket to be served.. that will be a minimum of 2-3 days. So then you made 300g in 2-3 days, wich isn't much at all?
