Abuse & make profit from your guild

Not sure if it's a guide, an exploit or a scam ... please move to the appropriate section if I don't choosed the good one.

So, today, Professor Plopplop will learn you how to make profit by abusing a game mechanic.

Have you see that when you create an In-Game mail, the "targeted toon field" of the mail (don't know the english word) has got an autocompletion ?

What is autocompletion ? have a look at : Autocomplete - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Wow, mails autocomplete with : Guild members, Friends.

What about abusing this ?

Open your "MMowned for Dummies" on page 56 please.

Step 1 :
- Go to Stormwind and find a level 1 Bank-alt which is guilded (not in a bank-al-guild but a real guild). It must be a nooby guild, that you know you won't have difficulty to be recruit in.

- Find with the armory, officers of this guild.

- Whisp them, when there's almost nobody logg-on in this guild.

At this point, you'll have your alt in the guild, now, this is the trick :

- Create a toon with almost the same name than your "victim" (found at step 1). The name must be "alphabetically" (?) before your victim. For example :

* Your victim name is : Bankalt
* Your name will be : Bankall

- Always in the night, when you know your victim is not connected, ask an officer to guild your bank-toon.

- Wait some days and connect your bank-toon (always when your victim is not connected), watch your mail and profit.


Final Tips :
- In order to find victims, I look for the AH for peoples using the JC/Ench trick (they are selling tons of infinit dust). 90% of them are JC/DE from their main char and mailing the result to a bank-alt.

- I always connect my bank-toon when there's nobody connected in the guild.

- I always delete my bank-toon after 2-3 days with results.

Yes, I think too that this method is less effective than other scam.
But the pleasure to "scam" a person without speaking with him is ... priceless.

I've actually had this happen by accident in my guild. The flaw in this though is that most bank toons that are into some major farming etc etc normally have their own little guild for storage. Nice idea though.

So how much progression is your guild getting when members can't even co-exist without cutting eachothers' throats?

I dont get it, join a guild with almost the same name as someone else, who sends you the stuff?

Im sure he meant they use the mail-addon Postal with autocomplete, so if someone sends stuff in the guild to an alt for "Bankalt" first will pop up "Bankall" cause the last letter l is before t alphabetically. so they just suck it, i guess.

Why would everyone in the guild send stuff to one guy, why can't they make their own alt or something? I guess im short-minded and dont get it... :-P

To those who don't understand the trick :

When you create a mail, when you starts writing the recipient of the mail, Wow client writes for you the end of the name.

Don't need the Postal mail-addon, the original Wow client always autocomplete recipients names.

So when the "scamed" person will try to send some stuff to his bank-toon, the first person Wow client will display in the mail recipient field will be YOUR bank-toon with the "same" name.

Sure, if you choose "Bankall" to scam "Bankalt", the trick is poorly hidden.
Best choice would be : Bankallt, i think.

This time, if you don't understand the trick, sorry but, you don't deserve to use it

I get it now, but in the first post it sounded like everyone from the guild sends something to one person.
