Quickest way to obtain 1-450 Fishing on a new character

Hey guys, for a lot of you this guide may just be common sense, but hopefully everyone can get some nice info out of this.

This guide is written from a HORDE perspective. Although Alliance players can find steps 7-12 useful still!

Some nice things about this guide are: It allows you to make a nice amount of change from fish caught while levelling, it is the most direct and fastest way to begin and level fishing, you will only have one total death in your whole process of levelling 1-450, and best of all You need no help from anyone else, you are able to be completely self sufficient.

There are many alternatives and other options on how you do this, I'm simply stating the way I found the easiest and fastest (NOT the most PROFITABLE). In other words, I appreciate constructive criticism / suggestions, but flaming is simply unnecessary. I'm trying to contribute to the community in whatever way I can.

REQUIREMENTS:

1) A Level 10 Character - Must be level ten to get to 450 skill.

2) MrFishIt - Unless you'd like to sit and fish every single skill point yourself. (See Link 1)

3) Fishing Pole - Use the most basic one, seeing as how our +skill doesn't affect how fast we gain skill (+skill only affects our drop rates of gray vs. higher quality items). You can always upgrade later.

4) ~50 Gold - This will cover our basic training costs.

OPTIONALS:

1) Bags - I use 16-Slotters simply because they are cheap, but still hold a good bit.

2) Loot Filter Addon - Great addon to keep away those pesky gray items (I will explain the settings I used for this farther down). (See Link 2)

3) Lures - Since leveling 1-100 is so dang fast, I only buy Bright Baubles. I have done the math, and to keep a constant +75 fishing skill from 100 skill on you will need a MINIMUM of 72 Bright Baubles. I suggest to get 80 Bright Baubles to allow some room to spare.
NOTE: If you buy lures before your skill is high enough to actually use them you must go into MrFishiIt and uncheck the "Lures" box.

NOTE: At any time past you get 450 skill your main / banker can easily send you more lures for continued farming.

HOW TO DO IT:

1) Once your character is level 10 Head to the Fishing Trainer in Orgrimmar. He can be found on the docks in The Valley of Honor. Learn Apprentice Training from him.

IMPORTANT: Buy your Fishing Rod / Lures at this fishing merchant here. This will be the one and only time you will have the oppurtunity to buy lures.

2) Once you have 80 Bright Baubles and a normal fishing rod head to the zeppelin outside that will take you to Warsong Hold. Take this Zeppelin.

3) IMPORTANT: Get the flight path (found up the elevator). Talk to the Innkeeper and make Warsong Hold your home. Your new Fishing Trainer can be found right next to the Innkeeper as well as a Mailbox to mail your fishies to your main / bank toon.

So now we are all set to get fishing! But... how do we get to the water without getting owned by the mobs waiting for us outside the safe haven of Warsong Hold?! Do I spend possibly hours corpse running? Do I bother my guildies to escort me all around while I try to find a safe spot to fish, and still die multiple times in the process? Maybe I could have someone summon me, but that would take 3 people and way too much wasted effort.

The simplest, most self sufficient, and easiest solution is: The Zeppelin.

4) IMPORTANT: Uneguip all of your gear BEFORE boarding the zeppelin. Especially your Fishing Rod.

So you get back on the zeppelin, You will want to be on the Left edge of the zepp when you are facing the front (I'm sure someone more familiar with nautical terms could tell me the name of that). Now be ready... you will want to jump off of the zepp when you are in a certain place.



5) After you jump you will die from Fall Damage. You will want to release your spirit, and if you landed in the correct area you will notice that you are now at the Amber Ledge graveyard!

NOTE: If you are not at the Amber Ledge graveyard simply res at the spirit healer and board the zepp and try again! (If necessary hearth back to Warsong Hold).

6) Resurrect at the Spirit Healer and go get the Flight Path from the big dragon in the middle of the town (kinda hard to miss).

7) Once you've done that you want to follow this path:



IMPORTANT: There is one and ONLY one mob you must be wary about on your travels to the lake. A wandering mob named "Lunchbox" will sometimes come near or into your path. If that's the case simply wait a bit then continue on.

This position is well hidden and is completely safe from mobs. I have spent 5+ hours in this one spot at a time with no interruptions or trouble. This spot will catch you FOUR different types of fish: Bonescale Snappers, Musselback Sculpins, Angel Dragonfish, and Pygmy Suckerfish. I usually have my Lootfilter set to auto-delete the Snappers.

The other three sell quite well on my server and are used in raiding foods or potions (Guru's Elixir).

ALSO, you can loot Crystalized Water and Frostweave from here, both of which sell well!



9) You will level skill 1-75 with almost every catch (although it will almost ALWAYS be trash). Although once you get into the higher levels you will appreciate MrFishIt so much and understand why I suggest getting it . This is where Loot Filter comes in handy. If you know how to setup loot filter for your own personal needs skip on to step 10.

HOW TO SETUP LOOT FILTER:

A) Unzip into Interface folder.

B) On login screen check its box.

C) In game simply type "/Lootfilter" and its menu will open.

D) The most important things for you to uncheck are (IMO): Notify on delete, Notify on keep, and Notify on no match. These simply spam your chat box is all.

E) In the "Quality" tab you will want to check the far right circle next to Poor (Gray). Everything else should all be checked on the far left. This allows you to use the "Name" tab (which is self explanatory enough).

10) Once you hit 75 skill, you must go learn your next training... Journeyman I believe. To do this all you must do is Hearthstone to Warsong Hold. You can also mail whatever fish you got to your banker at this time.

11) To get back to fishing all you have to do is fly to Amber Ledge and take the path back to your hideaway.

12) Rinse and Repeat to 450!

Tricks / Tips (More to come)

This section will be a list of any tips, alternatives, and tricks you can use with this guide. If YOU have a tip post it, and it will be added to the list!

1) The Hide-In-A-Boulder

First off, this trick requires UltimateWoW hacking program. (See link 4).
Once downloaded open up WoW and login, then in the UltimateWoW's GUI you will want to type: m2collision.
After you do that this will enable you to walk through stuff you wouldn't be able to before... In our case we will be walking into the middle of THIS rock:



You can stand in the middle of this and fish out of it, and the only thing that is possibly noticeable is your bobber/line.

On the upside this is a lot more stealthier, BUT an innocent bystander would be a lot more curious about a fishing rock than a character standing there fishing. Up to you to decide whether to use this or not.

How long did the overall process take for you?

Overall I got my second and third character to 450 in under... 48 hours I'd say. If you ran MrFishIt non stop I'd say fastest is 12 hours perhaps?

The first one I was hesitant about how long I ran MrFishIt. Setup to get there after you hit level ten is probably 20 mins tops?

Haha yeah it's great and easy way to gain some profit. I run raids on my main and in background I let this do all my fishing. I've had one person notice me as well. But that probably depends on what server you're playing.

Just to point out, you really don't need to stand there to do this.

Get to level 10 and go to Howling Fjord's : Vengeance Landing or Valgarde

Simples :P

cant you just fish up in dalaran? like get a warlock to summon you to dalaran and fish in underbelly?
