Isle Of Conquest .. A little guide :-)

The Isle Of Conquest.. Comming to a computer NEAR YOU!

So I was looking up for guide about the new battleground in the next patch (Call of the Crusade) and I couldn't really find any on these forums, so I decided to just make a compliation + the knowledge I've gained from playing about 50 Isle of Conquest battles on the Public Test Realm.

Anywho! Heres what I found out:

the new Battleground, Isle of Conquest, is scheduled to make its debut in the upcoming content patch, Call of the Crusade, will pitch teams of up to 40 players against each other in a massive battle over this small island off Northrend's northern coast

The objective is as following: Kill the enemies general, by bombing/destroying atleast ONE of their gates, entering the generals room, wipe a few times because there is probably no tank, kill him = WIN
Or, make the enemies' reinforcements run out.

The gates cannot be attacked by normal attacks, but there are serveral other things in this battleground that you can pickup / drive to destroy the gate with!

The Oil Derrick: Located on the northwestern end of the island, this smudge in the Frozen Sea produces enough black gold to run a thousand siege engines. Taking this resource garners precious reinforcements and a continuous flow of honor to the side that controls it.

The Cobalt Mine: This snow-covered assembly, located on the southeastern end of the island, hides untapped supplies that must be harvested. Taking this resource grants reinforcements and a continuous flow of honor to the side that controls it.

(+ note on the Cobalt Mine and Oil Derrick)
These aren't as important as the other 3, but it will give you honor like a healing stream totem will give you health. It's not that much, but it's better than nothing + reinforcements can't be too bad to get :-) (will make it look like your side doesn't suck and just gets slaughtered by the others)

The Docks: The western shore's docks will further expand your selection of siege weapons with the devastating new Glaive Thrower and the Catapult. Unleash the destruction of the Glaive Thrower upon the walls of the keep, or launch your invading party over the walls to assault the keep from within.

(+ note on the Docks) :
The catapults are the most freakin funniest thing ever. I LOVE it on all my caster/ranged classes. To be able to shoot yourself up on the walls of the (I play horde) Alliance's keep, and then stand up there firing down heavy aoe or just single target spells on your enemies is F to the U to the N to the N to the Y!!!

Also, you can obtain the Glaive Thrower from capturing
    -Glaive Thrower
    Holds 1 person.
    Main Abilites: Glaive Throw
    - Does about 4500 dmg on the gate, and can be fired from a VERY long distance. Also i did about 9k on players, but its hard to aim and also hitting them.
Second Ability: (Well this is imbarrasing, because i've totally forgot the name, lol)
    - Anywho! It's a little volley like spell, its channeled and fires alot of small glaives, which deals about 2.5k dmg on players, and roughly the same on the gate. It's much better for killing players than Glaive Throw.

The Airship Hangar: This sturdy steel structure stands on the peak of Mt. Conquest overlooking the eastern side of the island, allowing players to board the airship docked there. This devastating weapon of war is capable of raining death upon the heads of your enemies and destroying enemy defenses. Once onboard the airship, players will find it comes equipped with parachutes enabling a strike team to drop into the enemy keep from above.

(+ note on Airship) : Imo, it's overrated.. Its funny to be firing down DESTRUCTION on your enemies, but hey..the cannons on the keep, or a glaive thrower is also very funny! Also, the parachute you obtain on the airship is actually "equipped" right when you enter the Airship from one of the two teleporters up there. Just jump off, truuuust me! :-D

The Siege Workshop: Situated right between the Alliance base and the Horde base, this siege workshop occupies a strategic hot spot. Seizing it grants the controlling party the ability to utilize an arsenal of siege vehicles perfectly suited to reducing the enemy keep's walls to dust and ashes.

(+ note on the Siege Workshop) :
Now this place is the place of the biggest battles. Most of hordes & allies will just storm towards eachothers keep, and they will usally meet at the siege workshop, so be prepared for some huge battles.

The workshop also contains "HUGE Saronite Bombs" Which can also be used to bomb the gates with.

The vehicles you can obtain at the workshop is:

    -Siege Engine
    Holds 4 people, including driver.
    Main Abilites: Ram, Steam Rush
    - Ram is for killing the gate and for knocking back targets, has about 1.5 second cooldown i think, and it does about 2k dmg.
    - Steam rush is a little sprint, for your Siege Engine
Main Turret Abilities: Fire Cannon, Steam Blast
    - Fire cannon is pretty simply, it just fires the cannon like you've had in WG, and does some nice dmg on the gate.
    - Steam Blast is mostly for knocking back stupid rogues/warr/dk/palas that are annoying you, and anybody who gets in your way. It also does some nice dmg on the gate, but i prefer to use the fire cannon!
Side Turret Abilites: Flame Turret, Fireball.
    - These abilities are most used for killing players, and doesnt dmg the

    - Demolisher
    Holds 3 people, including driver.
    Main Abilities: Hurl Boulder, Ram
    - Hurl Boulder does a huge amount of dmg, and it does very well on killing players.
    - Ram is mostly for the gate, and it does about 2k dmg also.

Both will spawn about 5 minutes after you've captured the Workshop..

Graveyards: There are five graveyards in the Isle of Conquest that are attached to different points of interest on the map: the Horde base, the Alliance base, an oil spill island in the center of the map (attached to the siege workshop), the northeast corner (attached to the airship hangar), and the southwest corner (attached to the docks).

The Keeps: The Horde and Alliance keeps sit at opposite ends of the island. These citadels host four easily accessible defensive cannons set on the ramparts, capable of unleashing hot fury onto oncoming attackers. Additional explosives sit safely stowed in the base of the keep along the back wall. At least, they're safe as long as they don't fall into enemy hands. If they do, though, they can be employed to bring the stone walls down from within.

    (+note on Keeps) :
Inside the keeps, and just outside the gate is a teleporter. When the game starts, the big gate opens up, but after about 30 secs or smth. it closes again, so at that point you just use the teleporter to get outside, and you can use it on your mount without getting demounted.

another nice thing to notice about the keep is, lets say you've flewn in with the catapult or a parachute, then you will find (if the keep is undefended inside) a huge amount of Saronite Bombs you can pickup, and run to the gate with (from the inside) and bomb the gate easily.

Another note is, that to the left and right of the gate is two towers. Up on these towers are 4 cannons which can be very deadly, and very mean to use on attacking enemies. The keeps also have three gates, and doesn't matter which one you destory to enter the courtyard and kill the general :-)

The Generals: Holed up behind the keeps' massive walls, the generals command their forces from a position of relative safety. Should the keep fall and the general be slain, the Isle of Conquest will fall to the victor.

    (+note on the generals)
The generals are basicly the Isle of Conquest's Vandar Stormpike or Drek'thar. When they're down, you win.
Buuuut blizzard has updated them a bit, and they have got alot more HP now. It's 378,000 for each of them. And you may notice that you know these guys, the horde's general is also sitting out most of his time in Agmar's Hammer, because it's Overlord Agmar!
The alliance's general spends most of his time (when not killing healers and top DPS's because there's usally no tank in this stupid BG) by sitting in Wintergaarde Keep. It's Halford Wrymbane.
And another thing, You have to destroy atleast one gate before you can enter the General's rooms.

Reinforcements: Isle of Conquest uses a reinforcements system similar to that of Alterac Valley. The clock is ticking and every individual counts. If too many of your comrades fall to the enemy the battle will end in defeat. Killing enemy players will reduce their reinforcements by one for each kill, Once your faction's reinforcements reach their limit, so too does your bid for control of the island and the wealth of resources you've fought so hard over.

    (+ note on Reinforcements)
Most of you have probably played AV, and you know the reinforcements part from there. Now this battleground is controlled by reinforcements, but I've played about 40-50 games, and i've yet to see the BG ending because of one of the teams being left without anymore reinforcements. It's usally quick battles, and people are generally going for the gates instead of destroying the opposing team, so it doesn't really mean that much.

And PLEASE NOTE: The information i've written here can ofc change dramasticly, because this BG is still in the testing phase!

BUT I GUESS MOST OF YOU HAVN'T READ THIS, THEN GO TRY IT OUT FOR YOURSELF!
    It's my new favourite battleground!

The only knowledge you've placed on this topic is your opinion on some of the parts in this battleground.

(+ note on the Catapults) :
This is the most freakin funniest thing ever. I LOVE it on all my caster/ranged classes. Knowing that the catapults are "the most freakin funniest thing ever" is not beneficial to anyone. It's nice to offer up your opinion on them, but it'd be better if you posted maybe a picture of the battleground map and other beneficial information which is original.

My first thought about this topic was just to give my opinion since this bg is still on test realm, and might be changed. But i've added alot to it now, and hope this will find your taste.. just notice that the numbers i write might not be what numbers will come up on your screen when it goes live!

Thanks for the guide so far. I hope Horde manage to win this battleground more than they manage to win AV on my battlegroup, once it goes live.

I'm guessing you use seige equipment to Destroy the walls or doors to to the keep, and then fight the General within. How many walls/doors do you have to break down in order to get to the enemy general?

I know its a wall of text, but there it is :-)

And yes, i hope i made that clear, otherwise i'll just add it. You can only use the siege vehichles to destroy the gate / Saronite bombs.
