Shalom.
This is a guide to doing Generan Vexaz on hardmode, from a Holy Paladins point of view. The guild that i am currently in started doing hardmodes this week, having completed the glory of the ulduar achievement last week.
(brief introduction of guides, skip to the white writing if you do not want to read it).
So far, we have succesfully completed the following:
-Flame Leviathan Four Towers (Orbit-uary).
-Razorscale (A Quick Shave).
-XT- 002 Decon (Heartbreaker).
-Iron Council (I Choose You, Steelbreaker).
-Auriya (Crazy Cat Lady).
-Hodir (I Could Say That This Cache Was Rare).
-Thorim (Siffed).
-Freya (Knock Knock Knock on Wood).
-General Vexaz (I Love the Smell of Saronite in the Morning).
-Yogg Sarron, with the help of one Keeper.
I will be making guides for all of these, hopefully they will be of use to some of the mmowned community. There may or may not be guides for them already out there (i know there is a brilliant guide for flame lev 4 towers, will add a link for it later, so i'll leave that one out), but there is a chance that the way we did it will make it easier for you.
-General Vexaz (I Love the Smell of Saronite in the Morning).
Achievement : let the saronite clouds form an add, by not killing any of them throughout the whole fight.
This fight was probably the most challenging so far besides firefighter (mimiron hard mode), which we will hopefully be completing next reset.
It revolves around communication, being efficient with mana and ofcourse teamwork.
Raid Setup :
Two Healers : Priest Paladin.
Seven DPS : Hunter, Warrior, Mage, Warlock, Feral Druid(also offtank for saronite add), Elemental Shaman and a Shadow priest.
One Tank : Warrior
As a holy paladin for this fight, i chose to use the 'pvp' protection spec, going deep into the prot tree for the +30 stamina converts to spell power talent (as explained in more depth by soto, his post can be found here http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-gu...ral-vezax.html). This opens up several vital options for you including - Imp. Sacred Sheild (important) and Divine Sacrifice(important). Because mana efficiency is such an issue in this fight due to you not being able to regen, you will have to time each heal in conjunction to your main tanks health. What i do is wait for the proxy of Sacred sheild, increasing flash of light critical strike chance. Using the protection spec, my flash of light heals for 10k+, as well as being alot more mana efficient than holy light, due to less overhealing. Communicate with your other healer maybe through vent or a macro'd heal (*xyz says : casting flash of light on [target]*) so as they do not waste their mana on overhealing. Ofcourse it is important to keep your tank up, but as long as you keep communicating, this should not be an issue.
As a raid group, you should try and aim to stick together and move together. When shadow crash is heading toward the group, move as a team. Once it has landed, this is when the ranged DPS step into what we inventively called 'the black sh*t' which decreases cast time and mana cost. However, the healers will then seperate themselves from this group as it decreases healing done by a significant amount. For us, the healers would move to the right of the group, then anyone who gets mark of the faceless from the DPS group simply jumps out to the left. If a healer gets it, he/she moves to the right. When general goes into a frenzy, i position myself to a point where our main tank can intervene to me, so as the ranged are still within DPS range of the boss. Once his frenzy is over, the tank brings him back to the original position, as a good routine within a fight will lead to faster kills, and you will get that particular fight on farm alot quicker.
When the saronite add spawns, we have the feral druid pick him up and tank him around 30 yards from General V. The DPS then switch to this add and nuke him down. At the point the add spawns you will get a debuff increasing shadow damage taken and it is vital that no-body takes any shadow crashes or too many ticks from mark of the faceless at this point. At 8 Stacks of this debuff, i use Aura Mastery with Shadow resistance aura ( self explanatory). at 15 stacks, i then pop divine shield, divine sacrifice and blessing of sacrifice on our Main tank. Once this has worn off, the add should be down at which stage the DPS will then proceed to finish of General Vexaz who should be on approximately 20%. The fight returns to the way it was during p1.
Hopefully this guide is of use to you, and will help your guild to progress with Ulduar Hard Modes. The fights are disappointingly easy if you have good communication and team work.
And i didnt copy a single fu*king word of this. It took me an hour to type it this afternoon.
