Farming Steam Vaults @ Level 80

*Warning this could be common sense to some.*

So, this is my first try to contribute on this side, i've searched for "Steam Vaults"


So, you might have forgotten about this old 70 instance, or if you're a new player you might never have played it at all as you tend to move to WOTLK at 68 :-) So, in Outlands -> Zangarmarsh in the middle of the big lake theres a place called "Coilfang Reservoir" if you swim down the tube you will pop up by alot of portals i'll provide pics soon. But its to the left when you first come up from the water

So, what are you going to do in here? Well simply just start killing everything you see!, I am currently doing this as an prot paladin/retri paladin without any problems at all. And my friend is doing it with his blood Death knight aswell, havnt tried any other classes but it shouldnt be to hard! These mobs tend to have a very high drop rate on 68-70 green items that can be disenchanted into Arcane dust or Greater Planar Essence (These are the ones you're after) this is also very server dependet but on my server Greater Planar Essence goes for 11 g each and arcane dust for 2 g each.

These mobs also drops Coilfang Aramaments wich can be used for gaining reputation with Cenarion Expidition, alot of players are after these on my realm to get the mount you can buy @ exalted. So i sell these for about 15 g each.

One run takes me about 27 minutes [DONT FORGET TO PUSH DOWN THE THINGYS BEHIND THE BOSS] as these are needed to open to door to the last boss :-)

Also one thing to take in mind is that Coilfang Orcales can fear, and should there for be killed first

I get about 8-9 Coilfang armaments per run, and anything from 8-14 green items, also you get 4 blue items from each boss, and theres always a chest inside to open for an extra green/blue item + 5 gold. The blue items from the boss can be either sold to vendor or disenchanted if your an disenchanter.

8-9 Coilfang Armaments = 135 gold
Also the mobs drops anything from 18-45 silver.
8-14 items = lets say 12 Arcane Dust if you had 9 item drops and 6 of them disenchants into 2 arcane dust each (THATS LIKE LOWEST VALUE.) And the 3 remaning items disenchants into 4 greater planar essence

12 arcane dust = 24 gold
4 greater planar essence = 44 gold

135 + 24 + 44 + 5-6 + all the vendor trash i didnt count in

Thats 208 gold in 27 minutes + vendor trash and herbs/adamantite ores if you have herbalism/mining.
That isnt to bad if you ask me !
With a good run you could get anything from 260-320 gold and thats in only 27 minutes

260-320gold x2 540-660 gold per hour

I know that my english isnt the best, but i hope you understand my point

Good guide, Also dont forget about the rep you get, its about 2-4k ish i want to say, but dont quote me on that, my shaman has been exalted for a good 2 years now

Nice tip! Also, you can farm the engineering rocket boots xtreme + Rocket boots xtreme lite recipes from steamvaults; I sell each of those for 1.2k+ on my server.

edit: the boots, not the BoP recipes >.<
