    Mutilate Rogue guide

Hello i'm making this thread to help people out with their rogue problems.
If you have anything to fill up after reading this guide please post a comment.
In this guide ill mainly be telling you how to rock at Arena/Dueling.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
Mutilate (41/5/25) is the most common build in PvP that rogues use.
And with this spec slow daggers in the main & off-hand is a MUST!
A slow weapon in your main-hand might give you more chance your trinkets/enchants/poisons will proc but gives you alot less damage.

    ARENA
    2v2 DPS/DPS
The most common setup is Mage/Rogue, you can also play with a Warlock but im gonna explain you how to play with a Mage in this guide cause I've never got any good experience with playing with a Warlock.

A few things you should know:
    - Sheep shares duration of Sap
    - Sap/Sheep 8s > 4s > 2s
    - Don't waste your blind by using it on a target that has trinket ready. Unless he's immume for sheep and need's a fast CC/interrupt.
    - This combo is realy easy to play when you both got it under control and can get you realy high.
    - Mage should make a stack of food for you before arena begins.
    - Mage should always cast Dampen > Intellect on your, to prevent spellstealing the dampen very quickly.

    DPS/DPS
Rogue/Warlock: A very hard combo for Mage/Rogue to beat the key is to find the rogue FAST and then get a good CC chain on the warlock to prevent him for example chain fear the Mage or Rogue.
When you as rogue will open on the rogue the first thing you'll have to do is open with Cheap Shot and begin with a Rupture 3-5 combo points to prevent him going stealth 12-16 secs cause the last thing you want to happen is that the rogue get's away on low HP. Glyph of Rupture - Item - World of Warcraft would realy help with this.

Mirror Match: When your fighting against a mirror match is the key to find the rogue. Stay close to your mage partner for if he is getting sapped by the rogue you can find him or if you are getting sapped he can cast an Arcane Exploison fast. If you keep on doing this (staying close to your mage partner) you will prob have to wait till eyes pop out (stealth det) an usefull addon to give you a timer for when the eyes pop up is: Bang! Arena Obstacle Timer : WoWInterface Downloads : PvP/Arena/BattleGrounds
The last thing you want to happen is that the opponent mage get's the eyes.
So what we normally do is split up and both go for eyes when it just takes 5 secs till they spawn. You as rogue should go where the mage will prob get the eyes and your mage partner goes where nobody will prob go. What you now have to do is sprint to the eyes sap the mage if he walks to it get the eyes (you will be popped out of stealth) vanish DIRECTLY and go for the rogue fast. You will get him down in no time, but keep in mind to Cheap Shot > Rupture him so he wont vanish out get away.

    Healer/DPS
hPala/Warrior: This is a fairly easy combo for you guys the only thing you need is heavy damage/burst and a mage that times a good Counterspell.
You will be forced to go on the warrior not that easy target for a rogue cause he's a plate wearer but you cant go on the hPala either cause he will just bubble when he's low and heal himself full and you will prob be dead by then cause there is no CC possible on the warrior exept blind but that can be trinketed. (Sheep can be dispelled from the pala). So what you have to do is go sap the paladin go straight on the warrior burst him down and the paladin will be forced to cast holy light/flash light cause he cant overheal the dps what you guys do with just holy shock. The mage has to counterspell the first holy light/flash light the paladin will cast the pala with get silenced and unable to cast any healing on the warrior for a few secs. This is the time to burst the warrior down you as rogue have to keep stunlocking the warrior so the Mage has free dps on him. cheap shot > kidney > cheap shot. If the paladin is gonna mellee shield the warrior then you as rogue go on the paladin kick all his heals if possible and let the mage finnish the warrior.

Healer/Rogue: With a combo healer/rogue you will always have to go on the rogue. And this fight belongs to your burst if you cant get the burst done well you will lose. You dont want the rogue to get away when he's low but your prob not able to burst him down a few secs. So what I normally do is go detect the rogue cheap shot on him do a fast Mutilate and do a 5 combo point rapture on him then vanish Cheap Shot again stun lock him so the mage can get free dps on him all the time let the mage sheep the healer counterspell him and let him force to trinket and after the healer uses trinket BLIND him directly. now finnish off the rogue by just keeping him out of stealth (holding rupture on him) and if that's not possible be ready to click fan of knives when he vanishes.

    GEAR
In arena its very important when your fighting a mirror match or rogue/healer combo to find the rogue. To help you with this there are a few items/enchants that give you increased stealth det.

Figurine - Shadowsong Panther - Item - World of Warcraft I know it's a level 70 item but it is still realy effective. I am still using this in arena on level 80. Cause it's a must to detect the rogue, it also gives you a 360 AP bonus which is a great burst increasement.

Weakness Spectralizers - Spell - World of Warcraft A great pair of goggles and this should be a MUST in arena.

Nitro Boosts - Spell - World of Warcraft If your having Engineering for your goggles anyways you could also just enchant your boots with nitro. It requires 405 Engineering to do it. It isnt a big problem to fix that. It very effective to get you out of a crappy situation in arena and get around the corner and eat up again.

Enchant Cloak - Shadow Armor - Spell - World of Warcraft A must have enchant on your cloak with stealth detection and agility.

Gear setup: When your playing double dps combo you want alot of burst but alot of survivalbilty to so im using 3/5 PvP set (50 resil bonus) and 2/5 T7/8 and waist/wrist/cloak/boots/1ring PVP and the other ring should be a good PvE one with Agil/Stam/Ap & Crit (haste could be included to)
for example a perfect one and easy to obtain is Ring of Invincibility - Item - World of Warcraft.

When your playing Rogue/Healer combo I'd suggest to do more PvE gear then PvP gear cause with Healer/Rogue you need good CC and fast burst. So i'd say for a bit more survivalbilty use 2/5 PvP set for 50 resil bonus 3/5 T7/8.
    Cloak/Boots/Waist/1ring PvP and 1ring/Wrist PvE.
Enchant your chest with resil so you'll get about 400-500 resil and socket your items with Agillity mainly.

    PROFFESIONALS
A very effective combo of proffesionals is Jewelcrafting & Engineering.
Engineering for the goggle's (stealth det increasement) and nitro boots.
And jewelcrafting is a very effective proffesional aswell for PvP rogues since it can make jewelcrafts ONLY gems. For example: Bright Dragon's Eye - Spell - World of Warcraft or Delicate Dragon's Eye - Spell - World of Warcraft which fit's in perfectly in those useless blue sockets on PvP gear! This will prevent you for using sucky gems such as Balanced Twilight Opal - Spell - World of Warcraft in your blue sockets to just get the set bonus.

    GLYPHS
    Major Glyphs:
Glyph of Vigor - Item - World of Warcraft
Glyph of Mutilate - Item - World of Warcraft
Glyph of Rupture - Item - World of Warcraft

    Minor glyphs:
Glyph of Vanish - Item - World of Warcraft
Glyph of Distract - Item - World of Warcraft
Glyph of Blurred Speed - Item - World of Warcraft

Is a good pair of glyph's you could use to fill up your Major Glyph's, it depends on your playstyle and which target your against. But I think these glyph's are realy the best.

Rupture glyph: I'm using Rupture against rogues to prevent them going in stealth and run away. With this glyph I just need 3 combo points and they wont be able to restealth for a long time!

Mutilate glyph: Will reduce your cost of your main attack your using alot by 5 energy. This helps alot!

Vigor glyph: This gives you a 10+ energy bonus which helps alot the first few secs you open the fight.

If you want to add anything on this guide or wanna have more help just post a comment and ill try to add as more as possible on this thread.

there are many better glyphs instead of rupture, CoS, Vigor, Mutilate, Sprint, EX-ToTT

Unlike WoW, the blocks in Tetris were a different shape, yet balanced to be about the same use

    TLDR: http://i39.tinypic.com/166iwlf.jpg
btw, change glyphs based on comp, TotT is probably better for 2dps and rupture for healer/dps

Glyph of rupture is a BAD idea. Just open on the rogue with garrote/dismantle>Evasion.

Use your combo points to decide how long you want the rupture to be. Plus to be successful at the comp mage/rogue, It's all situational.
If the warrior has stacked resil, you can just control him gouge, evasion, dismantle, stack winters chill/poly/freeze. It should really only take a tricks of the trade, 1 shatter and an evis to kill/ make the pally bubble, than you can reset.

So what I normally do is go detect the rogue cheap shot on him do a fast Mutilate and do a 5 combo point rapture on him

Better idea to just Garrote, or if you insist on CS, CS him than rupture immediately, if he is twitchy he will tricket that CS FAST.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Here is a more preferable spec i made, not a fan of quick recovery when playing mage/rogue so i put those 2 into imp KS.

I put 1 more into heightened senses, opener is key, + it puts you above hit cap(which can win the game when the other rogues kidney misses)
Also camoflauge since restealths are key when playing this comp.

Not trying to flame, good guide, just been playing a rogue for 4 years, gladiator every season =)
    Hope this helped.

Thats true! if you want to do BURST dmg you do not use Rupture.

But also Vigor can be replaced since there is a mutilate glyphe now - you can use EA glyphe agains classes like Pally/Warri/DK or Druids.

ready to click fan of knives when he vanishes
Do sum Bindings - this is the key to play rogue.

I think if the rogue trinkets your KS its just the best thing that can happen to you(I play RP).
If hes dumbass he will not w8 for a GCd and you can blind / fear / sap him and Burst the Healer together with your priest.

[Clarification of possible Rogue 2v2 partner]

Rogue/Priest (Disc.) is the most common and successful 2v2 team setup currently running, with 4 of the top 10 rated worldwide 2v2 teams being RP.

There are no Rogue/Mage 2v2 teams in the top 50 worldwide, so if you're a Rogue looking for a 2v2 partner I'd suggest trying for a Disc. Priest first.
