For all you best by customers

First and foremost, i know i spelled by wrong, shut up, i'm not retarded. This is just a heads up for people that tend to get gamecards from best by, and paying nothing for them, also known to some as theft. I have a friend that works as a manager at best by, that's how i got this information.

Recently, blizzard has influenced best by to recall all their game cards and games so that they can implement a tactic that each gamecard and game, has to be SCANNED FOR PURCHASE before it comes active. Hense, you take one, without paying, it doesn't work. I don't know if this is in effect yet, but i know it will be soon.

I also have a friend at game stop, no word on this happening there, but their cards are held behind the counter or in the back -.-

Anyways, hope this helps the select few that steal their game time :]

Would rather pay or scam game time than get a shoplifting conviction tbh.

Let me start off my reply.

First and foremost, Target(At lest the stores in my area) are already doing AAR (Activate at Register). This isn't really something new as alot of company's that sell Time cards are noticing the high volume or theft, and requesting that certain security measures be put in place. Aka, Phone card, new cell phones, etc.

World of Warcraft has to different types of ordering methods when getting the games cards to the store. Flat file(Like a phone card with activation barcode) and the all famous Game Card Box (Aka The theftmachine). All they are doing is adding a additional Barcode to the box that will be put in place for Activation. Figured it would happen sooner or later. Thanks for the heads up though, Target is the ONLY store I have seen that actually has a activation barcode. Not sure if it is just mine in my area. So I guess everything now will be prank phone calls for now on. Pretty simple prank phone calls! Oh and the BestBy in my area are freaking up god damn tight. Shitttt, my friend is the head of AP there (Asset Protection) and the shit he tells me is off the charts. But his store is located in a rough area so they have really bumped up their security.

But thanks for the heads up, good thing to know now because I will start having Walmart employees do False Activations on the cards nows. Go figure. Oh and I agree, why shoplift because chances are ALOT higher that you will be caught then making a simple phone call! I R to L33t? I'm a silver elite, rare enough that no one knows im here.

Yeah, we have the same dual bar codes on our timecards, and the new shipment of games got them too. Too bad though, not that i was stealing game time

I think people might be confused. The game cards that come in a DVD shaped case do not have to be activated at the point of sale. The gamecards that are just glued to a piece of cardboard need to be scanned at the register to activate them. Just like giftcards, prepaid visa's etc.
The DVD case ones at target do not have any security devices on them so they will not go off when you leave.

As far as the actual game goes that is really bad news for me if they change it to point of sale activation. Everyone I know just buys the game, writes down the CD-Key and just returns the game.
