F1re mage PvP/a bit of PvE

Hello there,im new to mmowned and since I have no idea how to do model editing and play on private server, I think ill start by making a guide.
If you do think of anything to add please say in the comments! Thanks.

    TALENTS

One of the most important things as a fire mage is spec ,heres mine Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Calculator - World of Warcraft[/url]
This spec is designed to get the most out of fire, and then if you want you can throw some frostbolts for a bit of pvp. Dont forget to take advantage of the Icy Veins w/ your
    pyroblast.

    ENCHANTS/GEMS/GLYPHS

For your fire mages sockets you want to be focusing on crit/intellect as you will be getting spell power from your enchants.
And dont forget to get an eternium belt buckle for an extra socket.
On the topic of glyphs, the most important ones are - Frostfire, Improved Scorch, Molten Armor

For your Head: Arcanum of Burning Mysteries, requires Revered with Kirin Tor
For your Shoulder: Greater Inscription of the Storm , requires Exalted with Hodir
For your Cloak: Lightweave Embroidery over Greater Speed
    For your Chest: Powerful Stats
    For your Wrist: Superior Spellpower
    For your Hands: Exceptional Spellpower
For your Legs: Brilliant Spellthread, or Sanctified Spellthread for Tailors
    For your Feet: Icewalker
For your Ring: Greater Spellpower for Enchanters
    For your Weapon: Mighty Spellpower

And dont forget to get an eternium belt buckle for an extra socket.

    PROFFESIONS/POTS

You want to get Tailoring for the spellthread and the embroidery.Your second preffered proffesion would be enchanting for the obvious gold making reasons and erm..Enchanting your gear !:P
OR you could go with Alchemy for the passive effect Mixology - Spell - World of Warcraft and for the Alchemists stone. But wether your doing PvP in WSG
or filling in that DPS spot for your guilds Saturday night raid, you will always need pots. The obvious one to go with is Flask of the Frost Wyrm,if you for whatever
reason cant get one - Flask of Pure Death is also a good pot for the +Fire SP.

    TIMING

Timing is very important when playing a mage,it includes knowing when to p0p your trinkets (Always better to stack them) and to see where your enemy is coming from, and how many they are. Say its you the fire mage vs a warlock and a shaman - CC the shaman, keep the dispells up and nuke the warlock,a good alternitive to one of your glyphs is Glyph of Evocation which would be very usefull in a fight like this. A good addon for sheep-ers is Control Freak allowing you to resheep later w/o having to target the mob/player.Don't pull aggro

I thank you for reading my guide and I hope it helped you out.

This is just my twocents but..

Playing a mage myself your spec doesn't have enough frost talents to "switch" to frost. You would be better off just putting 11 points in frost for icy veins and use the 7 other points to get your pvpish fire talents.

Also, copy and pasted some things from L2DPS - World of Warcraft Mage DPS Guide .

Edit: Disregard that ^^^ OP edited the copy and pasted things out.

Im not saying that you have to switch to frost, but to get icy veins up and then throw pyros at them, and then precision helps all round. And the only thing "coppied" was the Timing, and I read it,went over it again and agian seeing if there was anything to change, im sorry if the rest of the guide wasnt up to your satisfaction.

Edit : Also updated the build, tanks for that. Also updated the Timing to suite his gnomey-ness

Not enough for a guide imo. I wrote a lengthy post on mage pve/pvp here:
    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-gu...ml#post1431096

Almost everything you wrote is common mage sense or just common knowledge.

Nor does it really focus on PvP or PvE. It just tosses a few terms out there that apply to either or.

Your fire PvP POST........Did not go into any detail about enchants/gems nor glyphs. It does not just "Throw out terms",your PvP guide was just a bunch of strategies and you specced PyroPoM instead of me going Frostfire bolt.

Next time think before you advertise your post randomly - A post is not nearly as powerful as a thread.

Kind of harsh, but he's more or less right. For PvP you don't stand there and spam pyroblasts, and your spec isn't really desgined for PvP, more a "oh this looks pretty."

    WorldofWarcraft.com -> Info -> Classes -> Mage -> Talent Calculator

^ Is a better Fire PvP build.

Fire pvp revolves around pewpew fast cast scorch, fireblast, living bomb, and instant pyros. Not on frostfire or fireball spam. (Maybe in some BG's, but even then with all the deathknights death gripping...)

Also the glyphs are Evocation, Molten Armor, then either IMp Scorch or the new Living Bomb, your choice, or even poly. Evocation gives 60% hp with the glyph, thats too damned good to give up.

Control Freak, why not just use a focus macro?

I mean, you said you were trying, but try to research or learn more before just throwing out a thread.

Some people just let there rep and the colour of their name speak for them, well
contributing is kindov hard when you dont spend all day searching azeroth for that little bug or bid off your Gf's ring just to donate.

Im going to assume you've never even played fire PvP seriously or tried it in arena or duels.

Enchants are obvious, there aren't many choices to choose from.
Gems, you don't go crit/int......your gear + AI should handle all the int you need.

If you want to go PvP Fire you go like this:
    http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/talents.html?tal=230023230002300100000000000000230503231230033125312002130000000 00000000000000000000000
    Glyphs: Imp Scorch, Evocation, Iceblock
Frost Ward, Fire Ward, Slow Fall.

3 Interrupts (CS,Blastwave,Dragon'sBreath), Mana regen, All the crit from Fire, the resist from arcane, the survivability of fire.

The 3rd glyph (Ice Block) can be replaced by others [Blink, Fire Blast, Frost Nova]

Seriously though... Frostfire PvP? Any non-scrub would destroy you; so easy to lockout.

I know I don't post here nearly enough (to be honest, everyone gets my ideas before I can post them. ) but I've played a mage long enough to tell you that you, sir, fail. If you're going against a shaman and a warlock? GG. ESPECIALLY if you CC the shaman. Any proper lock will have their felhunter out to detect you if you have to go inviz, will spell-lock you when you have your instant-Pyroblasts up, will fear you when you're casting a big spell... The shaman? They have, what, Grounding Totem? Which you can hit with an Ice Lance if you have to.

A glyph of Frostfire is a waste, nobody uses Frostfire if they're specced Fire. Hell, I don't know anyone who DOES use Frostfire in general. They're out there, sure, but not on my server. You should always always always pick up Evocation over this. Molten Armor is fine for the crit bonus, and scorch is acceptable.

As far as "needing" pots when raiding, what are you smoking? Mana Gem, Evocation, Mana Gem, Evocation, Mana Gem, Evocation can't get you through a fight? You need that 3% spell crit from Molten Armor rather than the improved mana regen? If you're going PvE for a night, drop the gold and pick up a glyph of Mana Gem and you will NEVER need to touch a potion again. You should only pick up Alchemy if your guild needs a flask-generator.

Playing With Fire is ONLY acceptable if you're PvEing or PvPing against melee classes, as that 3% extra spell damage taken will end up getting you killed more than helping. If you're close enough to use Dragon's Breath AND Blastwave, you're playing ranged pewpew wrong. You only need one to trigger your instant Flamestrike. If you insist on casting chain-Pyroblasts, you NEED Fiery Payback. There are just so many flaws in your build, and I wish I could give you the benefit of the doubt but I just can't.

I know you're trying, but really. Frost is the mage PvP spec. Let's keep it that way.
