Hey guys, I hear a ton of mages crying about not beating mut rogues even though it is incredibly simple. Here's my guide!
Start out with ice barrier around 10 seconds before you accept the duel (this is very important). If it is arena you should already have it up.
Arcane explosion and basically mess around trying to get him out of stealth whilst keeping an eye on your mana pool. Do not let this get too low, you are stalling, not burning your mana.
Then when the CD on ice barrier is up, let him sap you. Then let him open on you.
They should garrote you, this is fine. Wait for your ice barrier to break while spamming deep freeze on the rogue. As soon as he gets frozen by your barrier breaking, you will deep freeze him.
AS SOON AS HE IS DEEP FROZEN BEGIN CASTING POLYMORPH!
THIS IS WHAT WINS THE MATCH!!
They will 99% of the time trinket the deep freeze which is why you need to already be casting polymorph. As soon as they trinket they will be polymorphed.
Then get to an ok distance summon your pet. and begin casting frostbolt
shatter the rogue (frost bolt and immediatley ice lance after while using your pet nova to freeze the rogue right before your frost bolt hits him, takes some time to master)
fire blast him, he will cloak and sprint towards you, or vanish.
If he vanishes make sure you ice block when he opens on you, then dismiss it and frost nova him and cone of cold and blink when you get kidney shotted.
Then pet nova him in place ice lance, fire blast, cone of cold, ice barrier. The rogue should be dead by this point. If he is not, cold snap and frost nova deep freeze and shatter him.
If he cloak sprints let him get to you, then ice block, dismiss and frost nova, blink and shatter him again.
If he prep vanishes out of that ice barrier and wait for him to open. Then pet nova him blink and deep freeze, shatter him and you win.
If they do not trinket the deep freeze, cast polymorph anyways. They will be polymorphed and frozen. Gain some distance if they do not trinket the polymorph, if they do, immediatley ice lance to prevent restealth, and hopefully knock their vanish. If they get off the vanish, look above and follow the steps if they vanished.
I hope this makes rogues more manageable for all of you.
