Using your time effectivly

Hello MMowned. I think it was my time to contribute. I made this guide, because I often find myself in situations where I spend hours of my precious time without getting anything back = FAIL. Some days I used hours in a bad PUG, just to earn a few emblems of heroism. That sucks.. Well what can we do about it? In this guide I will try to give you some hints, on what you can do in order to make both leveling and raiding a less time-consuming job.

Leveling

Prepare
Before you start leveling your character, get some sort of guide to help you on your way to 80. Personally, I recommend Zygor's Guide (link). I use it, because it is in-game. I don't have to use alt-tabbing to find my information about quests on thottbot. Reading information consumes time. I used Brian's guide once, and it's a excellent piece of work I must admit. But it demands to be opened, before you open wow. So if you forget to open it, you might lose time, because you decide to do something else than leveling (running around with noobs yelling gah gah). As an alternative to Zygor's there a Questhelper, which might be more useful in the low levels (1-30)

Choose your character wisely. If you are a casual player you aren’t going to have loads of 80's in raid gear. On my old account, I had maybe around 30 character on different servers, with levels varied between 30-60. It's a WASTE OF TIME USING YOUR TIME ON A CHARACTER YOU ARENT GONNA PLAY.
(if you are in doubt what character to choose, read a little on wowwiki, about the different classroles). When you make up your mind. STICK WITH IT!
Note: Don't choose a class because it's OP now, because it might now be when you hit level 80.
Same goes for your name. A badly choosen name can cause you might not want to play your char anymore (or loose 10 box changing it).


So. Now you made your character, got the in-game addon and are ready to level up. In this guide, I will not focus on which monster you need to kill and where to do it.
While you are leveling do NOT spend time on:
Professions (Use a day or two when you have your epic mount)
Getting friends (Friends need help, no time for that)
Going in groups (while it can be more fun, it takes more time unless you're on a RAF).

Hints while leveling:

• Generally avoid the social aspect of the game
• Kill every monster you can.
• Loot mobs which drops quest items
• You do not have to loot every mob that doesn't drop quest items...
• You do not have go to your main city to buy skills every two levels. But when you go, be sure to stock up on gear.
• Avoid using time on tradeskills / using time in the main cities.
• Learn how to use Keyboard Shortcuts. Clicking on toolbars is great for newbies to learn, but the fractions of seconds you save while using keyboard shortcuts will help you level much faster
• Do something productive while flying like organizing your bags, reading about future talents, or organizing your quest log.
• If you are a non-healing class, have a good supply of bandages through First Aid since bandaging is much faster (and more expensive) than eating.

So with these tips, it should be possible to reach level 80 in a decent amount of time. With a small amount of devotion, it should be possible to do in a month.

So now you’re a big guy huh?
When you ding 80. Gratz! Now the real game begins. There is A LOT to do now. You will probably be decked out in blues/greens, making heroic instances your primary target of choice. But which heroics to choose? Below is a list on how long time it will take getting a badge. * marks less time-consuming instances.

15 minutes pr. Badge

• Pit of Narjun: Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom 120 minutes

5 badges
24 minutes pr. badge

• Drak'Tharon Keep: Drak'Tharon Keep 120 minutes

4 badges
30 minutes pr. badge

• Dalaran: The Violet Hold 30 minutes

Do your daily heroic quest everyday.
Get all the badges you can, and you will be decked out in heroic / vendor gear in a week. Now if you have some spare gold, use them to buy BoE items for the last slots. You can watch the quality of your gear in a over-all-view here: be.imba.hu

So, now there is raiding left. This is where some guild can use a lot of time wiping / nothing. If you want good gear, prepare to spend time learning strategies, watching videos and such. It is important that you choose a good guild. If you haven't found it which guild works and fails, a good idea could be to go on the forums and spend some time reading the recruitment threats. Apply, and get in one. Start raiding, and one month later your decked in t7.5.

Without spending all your time it is possible to go from level 1 - 80 in a month. Use a month on raiding, and have epic in all slots in two months. Just devote into USING YOUR TIME THE BEST WAY FOR YOU

No, i did not say 90 minutes per heroic. It varies. Ex. Nexus take around 60 minutes to complete.






And no. You don't complete every heroic in 15-25 minutes mister america.

You would have to wipe constantly for 120min DTK, 90min HoL, 90min Gundraks.

It may be faster to level without friends, but you will die of boredom and your game will suck.

And another thing, if you think an archavon takes 10 mins, try being the one making the raid from scratch and then waiting for the slackaz to come, if you don't have a lock and the portal is down.

I'd rather lvl slowly and have fun istead of powerleveling till 80 and then do hc's to get your gear. . . I dont see the point of doing this. . . A game is supposed 2 be fun.
