[Spreadsheet] Three ways to make gold

    Hey there!

I just finished my three-part spreadsheet. You have all read the threads on how to make money on prospecting aswell as the guides on how to make money buy disenchanting stuff you make with Jewelcrafting. Those guides all have one thing in common which this thread takes a different approach on. They are all dependant on your servers economy. They cant tell if you will make money or not, simply because they dont know the prices on your server. Because of this, I made this easy to use spreadsheet where you just enter the different prices on your server and you automatically, using spreadsheet macros, will get to know if certain recipies are profitable on your server or not.

The three parts this spreadsheet involves are:
    - Prospecting
    - Flasks
    - Six different jewelcrafting recipies which you will need to disenchant

I'm not entirely sure in what formats you would like the spreadsheet, as there are many spreadsheet-readers. I made mine in OpenOffice so I do know that it works there for sure, and the second link is supposed to be a Excel format, but I don't own that so i can't test if it works..

    Download links:
    OpenOffice: http://www.zilefile.com/files/5522_6hvda/KeyToGold.ods
    Microsoft Excel: http://www.zilefile.com/files/5523_as0ia/KeyToGold.xls

    Virus scans:

http://www.zilefile.com/files/5529_h...oldXlsScan.jpg - Excel version, Result: Clean
http://www.zilefile.com/files/5528_d...oldOdsScan.jpg - OpenOffice version, Result: Clean

You will find short descriptions on how to use each part of the spreadsheet inside the spreadsheet itself.

Please do remember that you need to update the prices before you use the spreadsheet as the prices currently listed are from my realm. All prices are listed in gold. Also please remember that the part about flasks does not take Elixir-master procs into consideration, and as a Elixir-master you should see a major increase in profit over what you see in the spreadsheet.

EDIT: As pointed out further down in the thread, the spreadsheets do not take auctionhouse cuts or fees into consideration, this is simply because you can sell your mats/flasks/gems in other places than the AH, which results in not having to pay any cut or fee to the autionhouse.

    Have fun earning gold!

Your welcome, also if you have suggestions on additional parts for adding to the spreadsheet I could try to add them. I study economics at school so this is a "two-in-one" situation for me, both contributing and getting used to using macros in spreadsheets. Also thanks for the virus scans. I will post screenshots of virusscans in the first post to show people that the files are clean.

EDIT: Virus-scan screenshots added for the skeptical people out there!

You are not required to sell them though the AH, you could sell them on the neutral AH (with a 15% fee), the normal ah (with a 5% fee) and though the trade channel or to people you know (with a 0% fee). I could add in a extra page to the spreadsheet as a feel calculator, but I really dont think there is a huge need for it as it's easy to find the fee with the calculator most OSes have.

If you do not know how to, you can follow these simple steps:
Normal AH: You multiply the value you want to sell an item for with 0,05 to find the fee itself, or with 0,95 to find the value after the fee has been taken.
Neutral AH: You multiply the value you want to sell an item for with 0,15 to find the fee iteself, or with 0,85 to find the value after the fee has been taken.

Edit: Also read my next post

I'm pretty sure you missed the point.
Think he ment the deposit fee (cost more for 48, and less for 24, and even less for 12)
    And 10%??
Anybody else wanna call BS on that. I never notice THAT much of a cut.

Sorry, its 5% and 15% on neutral ones..

"A fee will be charged when you list an item for auction. This fee is based on the length of the auction as well as the vendor value of the item. If your item is bid on and eventually sells, the fee will be refunded, but a 5% cut will be taken by the auction house (15% in neutral auction houses). If the auction ends without a bid, the fee is lost (see Formulas: Auction House: Fees). "
Auction House - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft

Will edit post.. As for the misunderstanding part its not all that easy to know as there are two kinds of fees, but none are included in the spreadsheet, for the very same reason as above; not having to sell them though the AH. Also, the fee that you are talking about is refunded if/when the auction sells.
