i just tried about 10 times and only getting 12k xp for the kill nd i did it right

Man i think it is lvl depended, so prob u wont get same amount of XP if u r not the same lvl....

And even 18K is not that bad, thats about 600K per hour....

How exactly are you tagging both the mobs? im on a rogue and im like... Melee...? and Then i get roflpwned by the stupid elephant.. And i think its 30k if you tag both of the mobs, cause i did each indivdually and got 15k-ish for each kill.

make sure you're not in party, melee hit the mammoth, then throw the guy mounted.
try hit evasion while the healer keeps you up =)
