How about this? It's not a waste of time if you're happy doing what you're doing. You're right, we don't have long on this earth. As long as we are content with what we're doing to make ourselves happy, then that's all that matters. When I'm taking my last breath, I'm going to look back on my life and see that I enjoyed it thoroughly, and die peacefully.

However, if it's tearing apart your family or outside forces that you need, then by all means, that takes precedence.

If I didn't I would still be playing right now, not like it changed much though.

Now I just spend all day coding or doodling in photoshop.
