Hey,
I've actually been doing the same thing on my server, except instead of the helm I use... Ah crap, can't think what it's called without logging in. But it's a 1 handed axe made from 10 cobalt bars. It's 2 more bars to make, but it has a higher % chance to DE into the Greater Cosmic Essence. Think like 70% chance for 1.5 greater essence? Sorry, I'm at work so I can't log in and check.

Don't know about everyone elses server but on mine the Essence's are where I get better profit at, so for me it pays off. Just thought I'd offer up that tip
