Hello Again MMOwned,
My Spew:
I was just thinking to my self last night, that I play WoW pretty excessively, and don't seem to get out much, which isn't great for my health. I am making a new and improved guide, simply because the last one lacked a little in my opinion, so I am going to revise it, and see what people think of it.
You ask yourself, how the hell is Alucard805 connecting quitting WoW and health affects of being on the computer? Well I shall explain to you how I am going to connect the two. I am connection the two by showing you the side affects of excessive computer use, which would be including to much WoW. Let's set the idle chit chat to the side, and get down to business.
My Research:
As most of you SHOULD know, excessive computer use can lead to many different side affects that can harm your body. The most common side affect is, of course, YOUR EYES. Let's start with that, as it's a very vital body part.
Eyes:
I have looked into it, and saw that it can cause twitching of the eyes, dry eye, and fuzzy vision as a result of being on the computer to much(playing WoW for instance.) This is what I have looked into for the affects on your eyes, and the research I looked into. Take a look at it.
In that .pdf, it states that it can cause muscle spasms, and long term effects, such as: ocular discomfort, stress, and muscular strain. You couldn't POSSIBLY want that on your eyes, atleast I hope you don't. Those are all long term affects, as they have come up with a syndrome called "Computer Vision Syndrome"
Hands, Arms, Legs:
As you all know, we have arms, legs, and hands. These are all affected by constantly being on the computer, or using your physical form to excessively work at something. That being typing, just sitting, causing laziness, and drowsiness, due to inactivity. Here is some of the research I did, it's called RSI.
- Repetitive Strain Injury
As for you arms and hands, it would be the excessive typing and always being in that form, not stretched or worked, can cause cramping and arthritis. I on the other hand, get that, since I am constantly writing up this hectic guides. Your asking now, what about our legs? How could that possibly be affected by the computer?! Your legs being stagnant, and not worked, loosing blood flow, which in a way, causes a widely known syndrome, called "Restless Leg Syndrome" meaning your legs won't move, and can control you when you least expect it. I have had it happen to me once, its a bitch. Now let's move onto the most important part!
Brain:
I wasn't able to scrape much up for this part, but I have read in a few articles, that it can cause comvulsions, seizures, and brain tumors(theory), and strain on your brain. Taking in everything you see, may cause stress on your brain, or trying to get the concept of something. Some people have said that excessive computer use, causes bad social skills, anxiety, and more problems that lead on later in life. Some facts are proven, but merely being studied. They don't have any proof of brain damage from computers, but they do know that CRT monitors give off a bad wave, shall I say that your brain doesn't like. That is where the invention of LCD came along.

Research Done
Now, let's get back to the task at hand, how does ALL of that connect to you quitting WoW? Think of it, all these things are being applied to you, as you play for hours on end. Some people turn out to be fine, adults later in life, some suffer the worst. It is always how you think of it, and use it. I personally, have used a computer since the age of 8.
You knowing these facts, and reading up on them, and seeing actual people who suffer from what we are surely to run into, will tell you that it has affected them in some way or another. I believe that, I, myself, have been affected by excessive use, as my eyes are royally ****ed, and I have a catarack, and a % to get glocoma for every year of my life.
I am willing to take those chances, as I am stuck on the computer for eternity, I don't get outside much unless there is a party or something. It is how you take it, let's just all take this research into consideration, as I have heavily myself. I hope this have inspired some of us, to get up, and out of the house! That doesn't apply to everyone, as people have regular lives and continue gaming.
This isn't ALL pushed towards the computer, it counts for console games as well, I just thought WoW would attract you to read it.
Thanks for reading another one of my extensive guides!
