Damm Hard Solution: 8g x 150% (1.5) = 12g, so as you probably dont realise 120g = 8g x 15 (yea its 1500%)

You're doing it wrong. 12 gold is 150% of 8, but thats only 50% profit.

8g (starting) + 4g (50% of = 12g, 50% profit.
150% profit is if you add 8*1.5 to 8, or 20g. The OP is still wrong, even if it was a typo, its supposed to be either 1500% your starting value OR only 1400% profit.

EDIT: To clarify, your gross earnings are 1500% of what you spent, but your profit (gross-expenses) is 1400% or your expenses.
