A good frost mage is the heart and soul of any WSG match in the 19 bracket. We’re weak on our own, but synergize amazingly with our allies. Our priority is crowd control, using rank 1 frost bolt to slow and polymorph to put out priority targets, such as healers or a particularly vexing hunter. When this is not necessary, kick back and start spamming Frostbolt and watch the crits fly.

As with any twink, you should be going for massive amounts of stamina, but only after getting all the spell damage items you can afford. Personally, I don’t like “Of <x> Wrath” items just because of how squishy I become. However, that’s your call.

You’re going to be looking for spell power enchants whenever possible, and then stamina enchants afterwards. In some cases, however, resistances might be worth it. +10 shadow resistance to cloak, for example, is amazing against shadow priests and warlocks if you’re a draenei, for a total of 20 SR at level 19 (Which is a lot!). One thing that SO many 19 twinks forget are head enchants. Do not be one of them! The only ones available to your are Dire Maul enchants, which are a fairly nice boost. (arcanum - Wowhead Search)

The World of Warcraft Armory
Here’s a sample of a work in progress. This should be the paradigm you stick to for any Alliance frost mage for the most part, but there are a few things that can be improved. As you see, fishing boots and hat are missing, which contain a load of stamina (Lucky Fishing Hat - Item - World of Warcraft ; Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots - Item - World of Warcraft). In addition, PvP trinket is missing, which is a huge part of any serious 19 twink’s arsenal. For trinket slots, you might also want to pick up Arena Grand Master (Arena Grand Master - Item - World of Warcraft) for a bit of unmolested ownage every 30 minutes, and Minor Recombobulators from Engineering for an emergency heal. Finally, the Furbolg Medicine Pouch (Furbolg Medicine Pouch - Item - World of Warcraft) would be a better offhand choice. You can get a friend to grind rep for you while you follow him with your ghost. You do not gain XP this way.

Healing potions, needless to say, are essential. Lesser mana potions may come in handy once in a while, but it’s fine if you ignore them. You WILL need 225 First Aid to survive. Heavy Runecloth Bandages are just too game breaking to pass up. Note that you cannot make them at 225, but you can use them.
Minor Wizard Oil gives you a free 8 spell damage for a relatively cheap and easy source, low level enchanting. Rumsey Rum Black Label (Rumsey Rum Black Label - Item - World of Warcraft) is an absolute MUST now that they can be bought from old Caverns of Time. 15 stamina is amazing.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
This talent build should be followed more or less exactly! The cast time reduction is essential for those 1.0 slowing frost bolts (more on that later). Frostbite is a MUST. This is what will keep rogues off of you for a few extra seconds. 2/5 Ice Shards, while giving you a nice boost sometimes, is nothing compared to Permafrost. Crit chance at 19 is just too low for Ice Shards to be worth it.

Let’s see if I can help you here. How dose I paly?
When people imagine a mage, they usually think of the PoM pyroing type that annoyed them so much at 60. Well, life couldn’t be any more different at 19. Like I mentioned before, your job is to keep enemies off your teammates. Your primary tool will be Frostbolt Rank 1. With the -0.5 cast time, its speed is reduced to 1.0 seconds, which is amazing. You’ll want to be constantly tab targeting and rank 1 frostbolting, while running away if someone gets closed while your allied rogues, hunters, etc. cut down the enemy. You have no idea how much well placed snares can turn the tide of battle!
Polymorph is your second CC tool. Use it to shut down that 2K hp hunter or priest for a while while you take care of other enemies. Polymorphs can be gamebreaking, but not if someone breaks it! Make a macro:
While even this is no guarantee that an idiot won’t break it, most people will pay attention to it./cast Polymorph
/s Sheeping %t, do not touch!

Hopefully you’ll never find yourself in a 1v1 situation, but if you do, I can give you a few pointers.
2.2.1-Paladins
-Paladins are the joke of the 19 bracket. Just keep on snaring and running, and you’ll have them down in no time. A well played polymorph IMMEDIATELY followed by a melee hit or a wand can act as an interrupt against their holy light, but this must be done correctly. Arcane Explosion can also be used to break polymorph.
2.2.2-Mages
-If you run into a mage, chances are they won’t be as skilled or geared as you. Just open with a polymorph and spam frostbolt.
2.2.3-Hunters
-Hunters, hunters, ugh. You’ll want to try and keep in their melee range at all times. Make sure you line of sight them as much as possible to try and get them in melee, like around doors or poles. Keep on snaring them once you get in melee range, and use frost nova if they get too far. Most of the time you’ll die to a hunter if they’re good.
2.2.4-Rogues
-Rogues shouldn’t pose too much of a problem unless they get an opener on you with some lucky crits. Between frost armor and frost bolts, they should be snared much of the time. Simple snare and kite.
2.2.5-Warriors
-Pretty much the same thing as rogues, only a bit harder. You’ll be able to see them coming, although hamstring will cause some trouble. Try and open with a polymorph and kite them. They won’t be able to close the gap on you if you do it right.
2.2.6-Priests
-Heals will be the most annoying thing about them if they play right. Try and use polymorph interrupts, IE, a polymorph followed by an arcane blast or fire blast.
2.2.7-Warlocks
-Shadow resistance will help a lot with this. Should be an easy kill, except for fear. Don’t forget that you can always run away from them after a fear, and heal or bandage up.
2.2.8-Druids
-A complete joke at 19, the hots will just make them a bit annoying. Polymorph interrupts work fine here against Regrowth.
2.2.9-Shaman
-Shouldn’t cause much trouble at 19. Earth shock is really the only skill of concern, and even then it’s only a 2 second interrupt.
3.0-Closing statements
Mages are a very powerful asset for any 19 WSG. Their CC capabilities are the best in the bracket. If you want insane damage, mages definitely aren’t for you, although when supported they can be a fairly effective glass cannon. Skill is the most important factor in playing a 19 frost mage. Polymorph interrupts take a while to master and use effectively. Your teammates will love you for the supporting role you play.
