Easy Realm Realm Change WOTLK (Working No Programs)

For some reason when I installed my WOTLK and updated to 3.0.2.8970 My RealmList.WTF So I Found This Method To Change Realm List

(Please Note This Bypasses Your Realmlist.wtf and saves the settings in Cvar Memory) if you Choose to use this method you can delete your realmlist.wtf


Make a short cut to your WOTLK (Or 2.4 WOW)

Right click short cut and click properties

Where it says

Target: E:\WOW\WOTLK\Wow.exe (or where ever your wow is located)
(Note Default Installation is C:\Program Files\Wrath of The Litch King Beta) Do Not Change Your Location To What Mine Is

change to

Target: E:\WOW\WOTLK\Wow.exe -console
(You Are Only Adding -Console to the end)

Should look like


now simply open up your Game and at the log in screen hit the ` key witch is located to the left of 1 above tab on your keyboard and copy and past your realm list

it should look just like it would in your realmlist.wtf





Hope this helps and isn't a re-post I doubt it as I looked last night and didn't find any thing this is 100% guaranteed to work with any patch up to current patch

Note the realm list will not change unless you use launcher so as long as you use the wow.exe it will remain the same realm till you change it)

On my keyboard that "console" key contains the characters | and §.

not sure what kind of keyboard you are using but on a US stranded keyboard it is ` and when you hold shift its ~

For some reason I can't get it to work says the file or folder does not exist.

are you copying my file location or just adding the -console to the end of yours?

Tried both ways but, the thing I don't see is the WOTLK folder anywhere

well reinstall and where ever your wow is u just need to add -console to the end with a space in between and it should work if you can't get it to work screen shot it and post so I can see and I might be able to help u more

So for WOTLK 4 patches ago or so I don't know what patch exactly they removed the realmlist.wtf file if you are playing WOTLK and are using the most curent patch then you will need to figure out some other way to change your realmlist

You are obviously not in beta. I still have realmlist.wtf and i'm still able to change the realm there. And in case it's not in your root, its in Data/enGB/ directory. (Replace the enGB by any language you are playing in.

Nice one. Im not going to rep you becasue i already knew this but its good that you infrom the masses. It goes faster to edit in the console.

what patch are you on? like I said in one of the patches they changed it,

Right now on the private server I play WOTLK on we are on patch 3.0.2.8970 and you can't change your realmlist.wtf

I also checked the Data/EnUs/ folder not there,
