Disenchanting - Using the AH to make (almost) effortless profit

I AM aware there are other guides around with regards to disenchanting. I did a search and found some decent ones, and some bad ones. I figured i would post my own (slightly more in depth) method in case it was of any use to anyone. If this helps you, great... if not, feel free to hit the 'back' button. Otherwise feel free to look like a jackass and post a useless comment.

    *Note - 300+ Enchanting needed.

I make around 150-200g a day on this, every day... which end of that figure i get depends on what's on the AH and the going prices on enchanting materials. It takes about 10-15min AH'in a day and i've been doing it for over a year, if you have enchanting... you can pay your bills and buy your mounts without ever even enchanting anything.

A lot depends on the pricing of items/mats on your server. For example on my server, the price of Large Prismatic Shards was around 25g a couple of months ago, it has since fallen to about 19g (fluctuates a little depending what part of the week it is also). So you need to think about changing the price you're willing to pay for items at the same time, something i don't see mentioned in many of the guides on this topic.

Here's my price list (per item) :-
    65-70 Blue Weapons = 18g
    65-70 Blue Armour = 18g

    61-64 Blue Weapons = 6g
    61-64 Blue Armour = 6g

    64-70 Green Weapons = 8g
    64-70 Green Armours = 4g

    61-63 Green Weapons = 6g
    61-63 Green Armours = 3.5g

When i started this, the prices were different. They go both up and down depending mainly (i assume) on how much new gear is being pumped out at the time by new instances, arenas, etc. They were higher a couple of months ago even, but this is my most recent list.

You will probably want to tweak these every month or so, maybe more... but it's simply just a case of comparing the current prices of the enchanting materials to what they were last time you checked.

To compare, here's the price of the top-end materials on my server to go along with the above item price list. I give a ranged amount because it fluctuates during the week, more people selling at the weekend.

    Material Prices :-
    Large Prismatic Shard = 19-22g
    Greater Planar Essence = 9-12g
    Arcane Dust = 95s-1g 05s

Small Prismatic/Lesser Planar's = 1/3rd of whatever the Large/Greater ones are, though i just combine them into the Large/Greater versions. For simplicities sake.

    ----------------------------------------------

    *What YOU Need To Do*

To make your own price list, look at the prices of your server AH's materials. Large Pristmatics are simple, pay (Large Prismatic Shard price, minus 1g) and you will always make a profit.

How to make your list :-
    (Follow the pricing structure below)

65-70 Blue Weapons = Large Pristmatic Shard lowest price, minus 1g.
65-70 Blue Armour = As above item.

61-64 Blue Weapons = As above item, divided by 3.
61-64 Blue Armour = As above item.

    64-70 Green Weapons = Arcane Dust lowest price x 4. Then x 2. (Eg - Arcane dust = 1g x 4 = 4g. x 2 = 8g)
64-70 Green Armours = As above item, divided by 2.

    61-63 Green Weapons = Arcane Dust lowest price x 3. Then x 2.
61-63 Green Armours = As above item, divided by 2.

This is something i have done for a long time and i have tweaked my pricing often, to make the most profit. When you do this in the large volumes that your own PRICE LIST will make you do it at, you will see a good income while doing practically nothing. Simple because there will be a lot of items for sale under said prices.

Originally, i made my price list using Auctioneer/Enchantrix mods and went very in depth with the disenchant %'s of every item, but there really is no point... as i have found over the past year of just tweaking them with simple formulas like in the above list.

    ----------------------------------------------

Anyway, i just thought i would post this... as friends often ask me how i make cash so easily when i never do daily's or farming, etc. I have played WoW since release and this is by far the easiest way to make cash compared to the effort. Best money maker since my days farming Silithus for Arcane Crystals. ( <3 stealth)

So i hope a few fellow enchanters can make some easy cash off this, as a lot i meet only bother trying to make gold from the 'enchanting', when disenchanting requires much less effort for a guy who has no rare patterns.

Cheers and thanks for reading.

Great guide, but I'd look for lvl 51-60 pre-BC green weps and armor as well. Illusion dust and Greater Eternal Essences seem to sell for 2-3x as much as arcane dust and greater planars, at least on my server.

Totally agree buddy, i have had the odd bunch of 51-60 greens from levelling alts and the mats from the sell for a LOT. I have considered branching out into the 51-60 bracket and doing the same as i do for 61-70 materials. It's just something i havent got around to doing yet due to part-laziness and part-already-got-a-lot-of-gold.

Thanks for the response and +Rep for the great point made.

    Cheers!

Pretty decent guide, gives a good pricing reference for the item quality and what they would be if they were DE'd. Also the other comment about the lower level greens is true. 1 Greater Eternal Essence goes roughly 18g by itself, and I've had a few greens DE into 3x one of those! So all in all looks good, +Rep from me.

Nice contribution, but there are so many guides like this. The real money maker these days is to look for 50+ green items and DE them into the enchanting mats that people use to level their enchanting. My server has GEE going for 16g per, and combined with levelling a RAF character DEing everything, I wound up with 4k gold for just running through instances over the course of a couple days.
If you're not going to bother to click the +Rep button, don't say you will.

Great guide. I did something similar to this by buying greens that were 5s and disenchanting them into 3-5 strange dust. It's really easy money and it also helps when trying to get mats to lvl up your enchanting.

Please link to the ones that go as in depth as this.

Most i found either talk about buying 1 specific item off a vendor or crafting a single item. With this guide you can make your own pricing list and will have around 100+ bids and 250+ auctions at any one time, if done the way i do it.

Cheers for replies so far. I will do 51-60 items at a later date once i've successfully managed to make it into a daily trade myself.
