[Guide] Tank as a Rogue

Ahoi.

This guide should help everyone, who want to train once his rogue for tanking or should show other how he exactly works. To illustrate this better and to give a good overview, there will be several chapters where you can read up the specific features.

Chapter 1 - Attributes

In this chapter we speak about the most important attributes of a tankrogue.

The most important attribute is Agility. Its the key to success as a tank. Agility is important for Dodge, and without Dodge a tankrogue is a standardrogue.
Therefore, this attribute must be promoted especially far upwards. The other both important attributes are Parry and the chance to be missed. These will be relatively low in contrast to Dodge, but are as important to reach the Avoidcap. The actuall Avoidcap for Rogues is 101.8%.


Chapter 2 - Talents

Combat-Tree
· 5% Dodge - Needed for the cap
· Imp. SnD - It is necessary, you generate more whitehits and raise the threat
· 5% Parry - Also needed for the cap
· Precision - 5% free Hit!
· Riposte - Useful for Trashmobs
· Dual Wield Specialization- For reaching the 21-Point-Talents
· Blade Flurry- Needed to raise threat
Subtletly - Tree
· Master of Deception- Not really usefull, only to reach the other talents
· Dirty Tricks - "
· Camouflage - "
· Initiative - An extra combopoint is usefull for threat.
· Ghostly Strike - 15% Dodge for 7 Seconds, try to hold CD on it
· Setup - One of the main suppliers for combopoints = threat
· Serrated Blades - Decreases the armor, not unimportant
· Preparation - Resets all CDs
· Dirty Deeds - For faster threat
· Hemorrhage - Great for raise your threat.
· Deadliness - More DPS - more threat.
· Premeditation - 2 extra combopoints
· Cheat Death - Reduces the chance to get onehitted. 1min CD
· Sinister Calling - 15% more Agility is important for the Avoidcap, 5% more Damage with Hemorrhage is important for threat

Chapter 3 - Buffs & Enchants

4.1 - Buffs
· Elixir of Major Agility - +35 Agi & 20 Critchance
· Warp Burger - 20 Agility
· Grilled Mudfish - 20 Agility
· Scroll of Agility V - 20 Agility

External Buffs from other classes

· Scorpid Sting - Chance to be missed increased by 5%
· Insect Swarm - Chance to be missed increased by 2%
· Imp. Mark of the Wild - 460 armor & +19 to all attributes
· Imp. Grace of Air Totem - +88 Agility
· Blessing of Kings - All attributes +10%
· Boss Base Miss - Bosses have a 5% chance to miss

Chapter 5 - Tanking in Groups

In this part we come on to speak how you have to behave as a tank rogue in a normal instance or in a heroic and how you can get to tank in a 5 man-group.

How to keep threat?
Pull some Trash Mobs and activate Blade Furry, attack with Ghostly Strike to minimize the first damage. Before the death of 1 Mob, attack the other one to get a slight advance with threat.

Beware of going in instances with a casterboss. Your avoidcap is usefull for normal bosses, but you gonna die very fast at casterbosses.

Chapter 6 - Tanking in Raids

Most of the people think, Rogues are Onehit-VIctims in Raids. But since a Rogue tanked Gruul & Illidan its not impossible.
Be sure that you got all the Buffs on you and Debuffs on the Boss.
If you reached the Avoidcap, you are able to tank a boss.
With the cap, there is only a chance of 0,0000000001% to get a hit. This hit should be a onehit, but you got Cheat Death, so here your healers have to heal you.

For the Threat should be 2-3 Hunters with a Misdirection-Rotation. You should also work for a good rotation and pay attention on totems, debuffs etc for a neat bosskill.

In the following list the 10th as well as 25th Raids will be listed with their bosses. If behind a boss the sign \'X \ ' is, hes not tankable. If you read \'E \ ', he is tankable under restrictions. Under it the bosses who have several companions fall, e.g., Maulgar.
