[Idea] Long term: Getting rich

Here's the breakdown of my idea:


Step1:
Farm Marks and Armaments, enough to get you around 2000g

Step2:
Buyout the whole AH of Marks and Armaments if you can (if not buy the lower priced ones)

Step3:
Re sell the Marks and Armaments at a higher price (say 10g more).

Step4:
Farm some more knowing you will definitely have customers

Theory:
Since the AH only has your Marks and Armaments, people will buy only yours.
Plus you risen the price buy 10g more earning you more money than before.

Pros:

• Definatly have customers
• Earn more gold for your farming

Cons:

• Long term
• May bankrupt you if your server's econemy is low
• People will complain to GM about you?! (Dunno if they would though

I'm sorry, I never try the whole monopolising a product idea. I've done it a few times and most of the time it is just a phail
Problem is because your items are ridiculously overpriced people start underselling you by 1c and all that shit so if your items dont sell practically instantly it doesnt work.
And if you try buying out the items the people put on to undersell you your just digging yourself deeper tbh because how on earth do you get the money back?
Sell them at a higher price. Hell no



This is a very risky means of getting cash, and can be very time consuming.

If I were you I'd take Definate Customers off the pro's list right away.

if you dont overprice it that much itll work ive done it with stacks of light leather at like level 25. The lowest they went for were 50slvr-1g i bought all those and undercut the 2g stacks by 1 slvr so basically i...

Bought around 10 stacks for 50 slvr each.
Resold at 1g99slvr

Because you are not only one who farms them, on my server there are like 1k marks and around 400 armanents at time, with 1-2 sellers, most probable from bots.

Once you try to sell a lot, someone will begin undercutting you. It will be possible to sell them all, but not for fixed price, you will have to undercut undercutters. It will be lil bit hard to undercut bots (tho it depends on your server, if there is ppl who farm marks\armanents via botting)

Overall it's possible, but quite risky and may not give you good result against time you spent on it.

I agree, but if people do undercut you, just buy there's and put it on ah.

(This might bankrupt you for a bit but in the long run still you might benefit)

Most people are using Auctioneer which will automatically undercut you when you go to sell anyway, I strongly wouldnt recommend using this method.

Yeah but problem is that if you buyout the people undercutting you youve dug yourself deeper and the chances are you will just get undercut again by someone else. and now you have twice as much crap to get rid of and no more moneys to buyout the people undercutting you. It happens.

I always change the auctioneer price. 5% undercut is FAR too much. waste of cash if you ask me especially as AH steals 25% of your money

If they did complain to the GMs, they wouldn't do anything about it. There are absolutely no rules about controlling the market or buying all of one type of an item. Senior GMs have specifically stated that this is allowed, and even though some players don't like it, WoW has a completely free market. As long as you are not using scammed/stolen gold/items, you're fine.

If you are going to corner the market i'd say go for a niche item. This means less people have it in stock to undercut you and if they do you might be buying 10 from the competition instead of 100.
